NW Michigan Toys for Tots is collecting new, unwrapped toys for needy children throughout northwest Lower Michigan including Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau counties. “In 2019 residents of Leelanau County donated over 500 toys!”
Those toys are turned over to resource agencies in each county, such as the Salvation Army, Father Fred and many others, to be distributed to pre-qualified families. The toys collected here in Leelanau County are distributed by the Holiday Needs Program.
Please purchase new toys to give to this program for this 2020 Christmas season. Please note that Toys for Tots does not accept used toys, homemade toys, clothing, school supplies or food. All of the toys collected in Leelanau County through December 14th will be given to Leelanau County children.
The effort to give Christmas to area children will only succeed if our community works together. Leelanau County is blessed with individuals and businesses who care about our community and care about those who are less fortunate than themselves. Let us once again provide Christmas gifts to children in our County.
Any questions about the Leelanau County Toys for Tots effort may be directed to Sharon Husted at 231-357-2667. Questions about the Holiday Needs program, the program that prequalifies families and distributes the toys, may be directed to Mary Stanton at 231-510-0271.
Leelanau County Toys for Tots falls under the purview of NW Michigan Toys for Tots based in Traverse City which in turn falls under the purview of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
