Local author Anne Marie Oomen will read from her new memoir Love, Sex and 4H. Her book describes coming of age in a small town in rural Michigan, balancing the wholesomeness of her farm upbringing with the turbulent social and political climate of the 1960’s. The Glen Lake Library in Empire will host Northern Michigan’s own poet bard Terry Wooten, who will share varied works from his long career as a poet and storyteller. His latest book "The Stone Circle Poems" was selected as a 2016 Michigan Notable Book by the Library of Michigan.
The Glen Lake Library will host an asparagus-themed poetry contest & reading as part of the upcoming Empire Asparagus Festival.
