Welcome Tulip Season

Guest speaker Linda Young will discuss the history of Tulipia, cultivated and treasured for its long-necked beauty and jewel-like colors. She’ll trace the tulip’s humble beginnings as a wild flower in the mountains of Central Asia during the Ottoman Empire to becoming a wildly sought commodity during Tulip Mania in the 17th century. Her presentation will also explore the influence and fascination with tulips in the fine arts and decorative design. The hour-long talk will include an “arm chair” tour of tulip festivals across the globe.
