Sleeping Bear Gateways Community Conference: Frankfort Garden Theater

Sleeping Bear Gateway Council (SBGC) is sponsoring a workshop/conference about the National Park Gateway Community to discuss the issues and opportunities surrounding Gateway Communities on Sept. 24 and 25, 2019. This workshop is open to Businesses, Municipal leaders and Community members.
 
Destry Jarvis is the guest speaker. Mr. Jarvis has 46 years working on natural and cultural resources management, public land management practices, and national park and gateway community issues and strategies.

FACTS:

•2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. •1.7 million visitors enjoyed the Sleeping Bear National Park in 2017. •The 50 millionth visitor was logged into the park headquarters in August 2019.

The mission of the Sleeping Bear Gateway Council is as follows:

“In anticipation of continued rapid growth of residents and visitors to the Sleeping Bear Dunes Area, we seek to work with local communities, stakeholders, and the National Park Service in preserving the unique character and natural resources of the area for the benefit of its citizens, visitors, economy and environment.”
