The Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail has been named in the top three best wine regions in the country in the 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest promoted by USA Today. In addition, the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail was just named Best Overall Wine Region in Michigan by Michigan by the Bottle Readers’ Choice Awards.

In addition to best wine trail, Leelanau Peninsula achieved several other awards by the Michigan by the Bottle Readers’ Choice Awards including Toast the Season, taking place in November, as the best wine event and Blustone Vineyards as the best winery.

“We’re excited to hear that guest are enjoying our wineries and events and are working hard to continually enhance their experiences while hanging out with us along the trail,” shares Schreiber.

    Did you know?

The Leelanau Peninsula is the second oldest American Viticultural Area in the state of Michigan. The area is now home to 25 wineries with 680 acres of wine grapes–a quarter of the state’s total. The cool climate produces wines that are often crisp, clean and balanced, as well as ice wine. The trail is divided into three mini-trails for easy touring: the Sleeping Bear Loop, the Northern Peninsula Loop and the Grand Traverse Bay Loop. Wineries are located within diverse microclimates uniquely suited for a variety of wine grapes. Among the internationally acclaimed varietals are Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. The local wines continue to achieve national and international accolades with each passing vintage.
