July 5, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

How were the local Anishinaabe involved in the War of 1812? Hear from Anishinaabe historian Eric Hemenway on this topic and other conflicts of the time period.

The Anishinaabek of the Great Lakes fought in numerous wars and battles to maintain their place and way of life. Some battles were with other tribes while many were with the United States. Odawa and Ojibway warriors from the Upper Great Lakes played no small part in the shaping of their tribal futures, as well as that of the United States. This talk will look at why the tribes fought and the aftermath of these wars.
