Painting Demonstration

Traverse City artist Charles Murphy will conduct a painting demonstration as part of his exhibition of new work at Center Gallery, 6023 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor. Murphy will paint and talk about his work Saturday, June 20, 1 p.m.

Murphy’s new body of work reflects his affinity for classic, northern Michigan symbols – boats, barns, birds and the diverse landscape. He looks for subjects that have a strong “local” presence, and records them as sketches, which are later finished in the studio. Murphy’s evocative, emotive impressions of his homeplace are executed in a richly saturated palette using watercolor, oil and acrylic.
