DESCRIPTION:Join us on the trails for one or more of our 8 weeks of walking – where history and nature merge! Walk for your well-being\, enjoying this beautiful park with others while learning about our heritage and the natural resources in the area you will be walking. Walks are on the paved or small crushed stone Heritage Trail\, beautiful natural trails\, and a few country backroads in Port Oneida. Bring walking shoes and water bottles. Everyone is welcome\, so bring a friend\, or meet a neighbor! This is a collaborative program with Friends of Sleeping Bear. \nHistoric Sleeping Bear has partnered with local walking guru Pete Edwards of SKIWALKING.COM and the American Nordic Walking System to bring his knowledge and enthusiasm of walking and the natural areas. He will loan Nordic ski walking poles to anyone who wants to try them and enjoy the benefits! Bonus: Get fit for the Port Oneida Run/Walk\, August 3rd. Each time you walk\, your name will be entered into a drawing on August 1st to get a free registration for the run/walk. \n Friends of Sleeping Bear have partnered with a state-wide program called Walk Michigan focused on increasing physical activity to help obtain healthy weights\, reduce chronic medical conditions as well as improve mental health and reduce stress.
