DESCRIPTION:The Tannahill Weavers\, one of Scotland’s premier traditional bands\, makes its inaugural appearance at the Manitou Music Festival on Wednesday\, August 8\, 8pm. The concert takes place on the Leelanau School lawn\, 1 Old Homestead Road\, Glen Arbor. \nAs they approach their 50th anniversary\, the Tannahill Weavers’ diverse repertoire spans the centuries with fire-driven\, acoustical instrumentals\, topical songs\, and original ballads and lullabies. Their music draws on the rich heritage of the Celtic people. These versatile musicians have received worldwide accolades consistently over the years for their exuberant and humorous performances. \nThe Manitou Music Festival is a project of the Glen Arbor Arts Center. Tickets are $18 for GAAC members\, $20 for nonmembers. Children under 18 are admitted without charge. They have crafted an original sound that pays homage to the traditions of folk and classical music. The sisters’ unpredictable and theatrical flair brings a youthful splash to the time-honored tradition of Celtic folk music\, bridging the gap between modern pop and folk-rock with a sunny\, optimistic style. \nA project of the Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA)\, tickets for the concert are $15.
