DESCRIPTION:The final installment in the 2017 Manitou Music Festival (MMF) features the Summer Singers on Tuesday\, August 15\, 7 p.m. at Glen Lake Community Reformed Church\, 4902 W. MacFarlane Road\, Glen Arbor. This concert is offered at no charge. \nAs the traditional MMF closer\, the Summer Singers is an all-volunteer group of 50 voices who present a wide variety of vocal works under the direction of Dana Allen. For the past 15 summers\, the Singers have welcomed all comers to its weekly rehearsals. Barrie on Wednesday\, April 26\, 7 p.m. at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church\, 4902 W. MacFarlane Road\, Glen Arbor. \nBarrie’s plays\, The Old Lady Shows Her Medals and The Twelve-Pound Look\, are both set in London in the lead up to World War 1\, and during World War 1. Characters speak with a variety of British/Cockney and Scottish accents\, and there are parts for both men and women. Performances of the plays will be June 2-3 at the church. Copies of the scripts will be available beginning April 17\, at the GAAA’s offices\, 6654 Western Avenue. DESCRIPTION:Auditions are over and Director\, Teddy House\, has selected an outstanding cast for her holiday production of GAAA Readers’ Theater\, <i>The Bishop’s Wife</i>. It’s a tale of a bishop’s struggles at Christmas-time to build a cathedral. While working to raise money for this mighty edifice\, the relationships with his family suffer. When an angel\, Dudley\, is sent to help the bishop\, Henry\, really wonders what this charming Dudley was sent to help with. Will Henry’s love for his family be mended\, or will an angel win out? \nThe cast has Brian Iler as the angel\, Dudley\, Pete LaPlaca as the bishop Jean Jenkins\, as the bishop’s wife\, Karen Ford as Madame Professor and Matilda. Rhonda Richards as Mrs. Hamilton\, Jan Ross as Mr. Magenti\, Debby and Mrs. Martin\, Rob McWatt as the blind man and the cab driver\,Sylvester.
