He will share “The County Line (and a River) Runs Through It! A Brief History of the Centennial Manning Farm.”\n* Dave Taghon\, an Empire resident all his life\, has been instrumental in the creation of the Empire Area Museum. He will talk about Empire history\, what’s preserved in the museum\, and the museum’s 50th anniversary.\n* Amy Ellison\, a local massage therapist\, will share behind-the-scenes stories of what it was like being a “clerkette” for her grandmother\, Elsie Warnes. Elsie taught her young employees by sprinkling life’s lessons with lots of laughter.\n* Dale DeVries is a retired Michigan school teacher\, who has spent his retirement years photographing landscapes and wildlife. DESCRIPTION:The final two programs for Glen Lake Library’s Summer Reading Program will be held on August 4 and August 11th at 11:00 AM. DESCRIPTION:Glen Lake Library is calling ALL kids who are interested in drawing.  Our next Summer Reading Program\, on July 21st at 11 a.m.\, features area artist Rebecca Howe.  With her expertise she’ll show you how to draw a variety of ocean animals.  All materials are provided.  Hope to see ALL of you then!  On the following Thursday\, July 28th at 11 a.m.\, our summer kid’s programming continues with an outdoor concert featuring our favorite musicians Luunappi.  Weather permitting\, we’ll ALL be in our lovely garden area in the back of the library.  So bring a blanket or a chair and join the fun with stories and songs and music.  In case of inclement weather we’ll be concerting in our program room.

DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to explore embroidery? If so\, come to the Glen Lake Library on July 12\, 2022 @ 6:30 pm. Grab a friend and come learn a new skill as Dayna Walton of Solstice Handmade guides us through an embroidery lesson featuring a special bird– the Ivory Billed Woodpecker. We will practice several embroidery stitches and then use them to begin stitching a pattern of this now-extinct bird. While we stitch\, we’ll fill you in on thee history of this famed bird. This class is suitable for beginners and experts\, and all supplies are included. The class is open for ages 12 and above\, though younger stitchers may attend with an older companion. The class will be limited to 20 people\, so contact the library in advance to register @ 231.326.5361.
