SUMMARY:GOODBYE TO SUMMER CONCERT
DESCRIPTION:The Glen Arbor Arts Center bids farewell to summer with a Front Porch Concert August 25\, 5 – 7 pm. This musical adieu is part of the GAAC’s Late Night Fridays\, and features two different woodwinds groups. The concert is free. \nHour one features Steve Gilbreath on clarinet\, and Kama Ross on flute playing light classical arrangements. After a short intermission\, the Leelanau Flute Ensemble finishes off the evening with selections from Mozart\, Vivaldi\, Gilbert + Sullivan\, and some light jazz tunes. Both GAAC galleries will be open during the concert. \nConcert-goers should bring a chair\, and their evening picnic and refreshments. DESCRIPTION:In Translation is a multi-pronged project that explores how humans employ creativity and the arts to translate the world\, contemporary life\, contemporary social and political issues\, and the world in which they live. It opens August 18 in the Glen Arbor Arts Center Main Gallery with a reception 5 – 8 pm. \nThe In Translation exhibit features the work of 32 visual artists from through Michigan\, the Midwest\, and California. In addition\, the exhibit’s central question will be explored in four other programs about music\, theater\, poetry\, and video.
