SUMMARY:4th of July Parade
DESCRIPTION:Yes! The 59th Fourth of July Parade\, from Glen Haven to Glen Arbor will happen on Sunday\, July 4th!\n10:30am and after on the 4th\, all will be welcomed to Glen Haven to line up and get ready to go. Vehicle line-up is organized into “groups” in Glen Haven by our volunteers in RED SHIRTS\, and Stan Brubaker in his usual YELLOW. If you’re a walker joining the parade\, enter the parade via Forest Haven. \n12pm the line up will roar slowly out of Glen Haven to make their way into Glen Arbor. \nNote: This we the community relied on our Governor’s decision. On may 20th 2021\, she announced “Michigan will fully lift outdoor capacity limits on June 1 and starting July 1\, end indoor gathering caps that were put in place to curb Covid-19.” We take that to mean\, since we are “outdoors” and “gathering” we can therefore have our parade! We hope you agree. Parade attendees/watchers should stay on the sidewalks and out of the street. Please be respectful\, safe. \n\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				carrying the American flag\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				military vehicles in the parade\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				mom and child watching the parade\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				sleeping bear dunesmobile\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				camp kohana\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				GLFD in the parade\n				\n		\n\nRemember: No organization is in charge of this parade. It’s simply a bunch of Americans showing their gratitude and patriotism in an old-fashions\, small town way. This parade celebration would not work without our volunteers\, sweepers. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Inaugural pet family friendly Pumpkin Fest on October 22nd from 1-6pm!\nThis celebration of fall will take place downtown Glen Arbor all afternoon\, giving participants time to carve their artistic creations\, enjoy family friendly activities and contests\, followed by a Pumpkin lighting at dusk and a community Dinner. \nFrom 1-6pm Pumpkins will be provided to carve your masterpieces ~ Free and Open to Children of all ages 🙂 Pumpkins will be placed along M22 and there will be a Grand Lighting at 6:30. \nThe fun begins with a Costume Parade for Kids and Pets at 1:30pm. From 2 to 5 There will be live music performed by Jack Pine. There will be lots of  fun\, family-friendly activities such as face painting by The Painted Lady from 2-4pm\, games & prizes at 2\, and again at 4\, with a pie eating contest at 3pm. The pumpkins will be lit just before sunset at 6:30pm for the event grand finale. Need refreshments?  There will be a  Beer Garden outside  Art’s Tavern. \nWhile you’re in town\, make sure to shop at our small businesses and eat at the local establishments. Also happening the same day at Anderson’s Market in Glen Arbor is their annual Harvest Fest\, right on site. With food and wine tastings\, face painting and a brat cookout\, there’s plenty of reasons to be in Glen Arbor October 22nd! \nPumpkin Carving is FREE to participate ~ Open to kids of all ages. Donations Accepted. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Annual Glen Arbor Winterfest on Saturday\, February 13\, 2016! Festivities include the Perch Fishing Contest + Chili Cook-Off.\n\nPerch Fishing Contest\nFestivities start at 7am with the beginning of the Perch Fishing Contest\, with prizes for 1st through 4th place catches. All participants will bring their biggest catches from Big and Little Glen Lake to the Sportsman Shop at 1pm\, and winners will then be crowned. Entry fee for this event is $20\, and all ages are welcome. \nDOWNLOAD: Fishing Contest Entry Form\n  \nChili Cook-off\nThe Chili Cookoff\, kicks off at Noon at Boonedocks in Glen Arbor. Entrants will compete to earn chili bragging rights. 1st through 5th Place winners\, as determined by popular vote\, receive a plaque commemorating the 2016 Chili Cook-off. \nThere’s only one category: CHILI ! – however you define it! \nAll proceeds from this event go directly to the Glen Lake Chamber of Commerce’s Glen Lake Schools Scholarship Fund. This is a family friendly event\, just be sure to dress warmly! If you’d like to participate\, the entry fee is $25 per chili.
