DESCRIPTION:A Fundraiser for the Port Oneida Fair\, presented by Preserve Historic Sleeping Bear\nFriday\, August 8th\n4:30 – 6:30 pm dinner served; music until…8:00ish\nSpend your day at the Port Oneida Fair and then sit down for our 4th annual old-fashioned chicken dinner at the Charles and Hattie Olsen Farm!  Dinner includes 1/2 a chicken\, potato salad\, corn on the cob\, roll\, beverage and dessert.  Proceeds benefit the Port Oneida Fair so we can “keep it FREE”! \nPrice: $15    Ticket availability not guaranteed after August 5th. \nWe’ll have some tickets available at the Olsen Farm on Friday. First come\, first serve!  \nThere is not a children’s price – we recommend to buy a full dinner and divide it for children.  We’re happy to help make the split. \nMusic and Dancing\nWe’ll have great music again by the Northport Community Band to entertain you during dinner for some toe-tapping fun!  And definitely stay to dance to  down-home fiddle music.

DESCRIPTION:RUN FOR THE FARMS! (and the lighthouses\, log cabins\, inns…actually all of the amazing 366 historic properties in the Park)! + Kid’s1/4 mile Schoolhouse Dash \nThe 5th annual 5K run/walk through the beautiful scenery of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore supports preservation of the Park’s historic resources. The Port Oneida Run is a challenging 5K trail run (or just a beautiful walk) on the Bayview Trail offering a unique tour of the Port Oneida Rural Historic District – “one of the most prized historic landscapes in the country”!  The course is a loop which meanders  through the flat fields and yes\, some hills\, of the pastoral landscape of farmsteads from the late 1800s. \nRegistration: Online at www.phsb.org  or at the Olsen Farm 4 Miles North of Glen Arbor at 3164 W. harbor Hwy. (M-22_ \nCost: Pre-registration by 5 pm July 31st is $27       After July 31st $32 \n8:30 am Children start the day off with1/4 mile Schoolhouse Dash from the Olsen barn to the historic one-room schoolhouse on the Bayview trail. \n9:00 5K Begins \nAwards: 3 deep in 9 age categories. \n\nPrizes – must be present to win! We’ll be drawing names for some nice prizes donated by our great local merchants! (Be sure to fill out the form the day of the race.)\n\nPost-Race Celebration \nWe have some good edibles after the run!  Families can find a place on the lawn to spread a blanket and enjoy the post-celebration activities. \n

DESCRIPTION:Experience the Port Oneida Historic District the way they did in the late 1800 to early 1900s –  by horse and wagon!  Travel in the footsteps of the early pioneers down the back roads of Port Oneida where you’ll learn about the history of this significant agricultural community with rolling hills and 18 farmsteads from the late 1800s. \nBring your family and friends for an activity that is relaxing\, educational and memorable.  Or\, make it a romantic end to your perfect day before or after dinner. \nTuesdays 4:30 – 6 pm; 6:30 – 8 pm \nThursdays   10:30 am – 12; 12:30 – 2 pm  \nCost:  $18 per adult;  $11 per child 4-12   Children 3 and under on laps are free \nReservations required – call 231-334-6103 \nPLEASE MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS EARLY!  Wagon holds 12 people. A minimum of 8 reservations is necessary to conduct the tour. \nPark and meet at the Charles and Hattie Olsen farm 15 minutes before the tour begins.  The tour will start with a short walk to the Port Oneida Schoolhouse where we’ll meet the horse and wagon. \nRates and Schedule subject to change.
