Imagine the life of the pioneers as you help bale hay or watch a broom-maker at work. Learn about spinning\, basket weaving\, soap making\, butter making\, candle dipping\, and fur trapping. Listen as park rangers and local history experts share the area’s history. Watch as teams of oxen and horses cut\, load\, and haul hay and artists and craftsmen demonstrate their skills. \nThe fair is held at six of the historic farmsteads in Port Oneida. Each farm has a variety of artists\, crafts\, food\, and activities for visitors. Click on the farm names below to see what’s happening at each farm. A shuttle bus runs between the farms on a regular schedule during the fair\, so you can park your car and easily get around to the different venues. \nArrive anytime between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm. Most people spend 3-4 hours at the fair.

DESCRIPTION:Join us to support your national park! Proceeds help preserve over 200 historic buildings and landscapes of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.  Choose your race between the  Flat  and Fast 5K\, a 10K\, and our inaugural hilly half marathon. \nThere is nothing like these courses. This is the only run that winds  through the beautiful scenery of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore’s Port Oneida Rural Historic District 3 miles north of Glen Arbor. With its historic farms and barns\, Port Oneida is hailed as “one of the most prized historic landscapes in the country”! Afterwards\, take a swim on the beautiful beaches down the road! \nEnjoy chip timing\, station hydration\, unique awards and great edibles! Enjoy the park – bring your blanket or lawn chair to our starting and ending point at the Olsen farm and enjoy post-celebration activities. \nKids Schoolhouse Dash –  1/4 mile round trip to the Port Oneida schoolhouse and back. Registration $5 through August 3rd. $10 on race-day. Ages 9 and under. \nHalf Marathon – a loop combination of dirt/grass trail running\, gravel trails and roads\, and pavement. \n10K – a loop combination of trail running\, gravel back roads\, and blacktop. \nCheck out this video of 10K from 2017  \nFlat and Fast 5K – run  on the Heritage Trail in Port Oneida east pass the Lawr Farm up to Kelderhouse road and back. Strollers and dogs (this race only) are welcome!
