DESCRIPTION:Ohio painter Joseph Lombardo revisits some of his favorite and signature motifs — Glen Arbor night scenes\, Lake Michigan beaches\, and up-close looks at some of the region’s historic barns — in his next show at Center Gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. The exhibition opens Friday\, July 13 with a 6 p.m. reception. \n“Most of the subjects in my painting are local\, and within walking distance of Center Gallery\,” Lombardo said. Lombardo paints in oil and in a rapid-fire style that fuses plein air immediacy with some follow-up in his studio. DESCRIPTION:For her 11th consecutive solo show at Center Gallery in Glen Arbor\, Maple City painter Margo Burian breaks with her tradition of landscape painting\, and for the first time shows a group of mixed media abstracted paintings on panel. This exhibition of new works opens Friday\, July 6 with a 6 p.m. reception. \nBurian has traditionally worked in oil paint. In these new works\, she explores water- based media including acrylic paint\, graphite\, collage\, and image transfer. “The paintings are deeply layered and consist of multiple sessions in the studio\,” she said. “They’re derived from a combination of observation\, memory\, sketch\, and photo reference. Often times the original image becomes lost in the layering process until it becomes a separate image onto itself.” \nCenter Gallery’s show of work by Margo Burian continues through July 12. \nCenter Gallery is open daily 11 am – 5 pm. DESCRIPTION:Painter Robert Ross likes “to paint ordinary\, often overlooked scenes and subjects.” Ross takes viewers on a tour of these places and things in an exhibition of new work at\nCenter Gallery\, 6023 S.
