SUMMARY:4th of July Parade 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Stan Brubaker Celebrate America 4th of July Parade celebrates America with a myriad of floats and vintage vehicles as they parade from Glen Haven to Glen Arbor. Parade starts at noon. The 61st parade will take place on July 4th\, 2023.\nAnyone is welcome to participate. No registration required.  \n10:30am John DePuy will be coordinating the assembling of vehicles and the launch from Glen Haven beginning at 10:30am. The lineup is organized by volunteers. If you’re a walker joining the parade\, please enter the parade closer to town\, via Forest Haven Rd. \nPeter Van Nort will be in charge of pedestrian participation at Forest Haven. Please do not enter parade until the last vehicle passes. \n12pm the line up will roar slowly out of Glen Haven to parade into Glen Arbor. \nThe parade marshal for 2023 is Rodney Brubaker. The children and grandchildren of Stan express appreciation to Glen Arbor for honoring America on this special day!  \nNOTE: Please contact the Township office at (231)334-3539 if you can help with the “broom crew.”  More helpers are needed. Extra effort will be made to help parents keep their children safe by sweeping candy that doesn’t reach the curb. Flagging tape linking orange cones will emphasize the boundary for parents and their children. Water balloons and squirt guns are prohibited and we ask you to spread the word to all our spectators. Don and Annette Lewis will be coordinating the “broom crew” along Western Avenue.

SUMMARY:51st Annual Glen Lake Woman's Club Art Fair
DESCRIPTION:2023 marks the 51st annual Glen Lake Woman’s Club Art Fair\, a juried Art Fair with over 90 artists carefully selected to represent a wide variety of one-of-a-kind art pieces for sale at the Glen Arbor Township Hall. The Art Fair features artisans in many mediums including pottery\, painting\, textiles\, woodworking\, and jewelry. Each year\, thousands of people shop for that unique piece of art\, either for themselves or for a special gift. The event takes place at the Glen Arbor Township Hall from 10am to 4pm. \nMeg DeJager\, Art Fair co-chair states\, “I am involved in the Glen Lake Woman’s Club Art Fair because of the high quality art provided by the juried vendors during such a fun day for the entire community. With free admission\, the vendors offer a wide variety of styles and price points for every shopper.” \nRuthy Bolton\, co-chair of the Art Fair\, volunteers for this special event because the Art Fair provides scholarships for Glen Lake High School students as they continue their education at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City. DeJager also noted that vendor booth rentals\, popcorn and bake sales\, lunch\, Club jewelry booth\, and auction items all provide funds for the student scholarship fund. \nThe Art Fair is a popular event in the community\, often making this the busiest day of the year in Glen Arbor. Many shoppers return to visit the booths of their favorite artists or to explore the artwork of new vendors. Dozens of Glen Lake Woman’s Club members\, supported by family friends and members of the Empire Lions Club all volunteer to make sure the day runs smoothly for both vendors and community members. \nSince 1980\, the Glen Lake Woman’s Club has awarded $307\,110 to 240 students with both 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd year scholarships to Northwestern Michigan College. The scholarships are announced at the Glen Lake High School Honors Night in May.
