SUMMARY:Flag Raising Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the founding of our nation in a patriotic\, joyous ceremony with community members of all ages. Major Patrick Hopple\, a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps\, US Army Reserve\, and a 1999 graduate of Glen Lake Schools\, will be the featured speaker. His presentation is titled Liberty and Service. The flag will be raised by members of the Glen Lake Fire Department. A crowd favorite is the singalong of well-loved and familiar patriotic songs that closes the program. \nThe Flag Raising Ceremony begins at 10 am\, July 4th\, at the Old Settlers Picnic Grounds\, located on the south eastern shore of Glen Lake near the corner of Dunn’s Farm Rd. (CR 675) and Burdickville Rd (CR 616). Please bring your own lawn chairs. Event sponsored by Glen Lake Woman’s Club. \nThe Glen Lake Woman’s Club was established in 1937 with a mission to foster social\, civic and educational projects. In addition to the Art Fair\, other Club projects include the improvement and beautification of the Chapel and grounds at Old Settlers Park\, organization of the community Flag Raising Ceremony at Old Settlers Park\, and a Christmas party for residents of the Maple Lake Valley Nursing Home. \n\nOther patriotic events you might like…\nFire Dept. DESCRIPTION:Join us July 4th\, 2022 for the 60th Fourth of July Parade\, from Glen Haven to Glen Arbor.\n10:30am Organization and lineup of parade participants begins at 10:30 in Glen Haven. The lineup is organized by volunteers\, and look for Stan Brubaker in his usual YELLOW SHIRT. If you’re a walker joining the parade\, please enter the parade closer to town\, via Forest Haven Rd. Anyone is welcome to participate. No registration required.  \n12pm the line up will roar slowly out of Glen Haven to parade into Glen Arbor. \nParade Marshall TBD. \n\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				carrying the American flag\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				military vehicles in the parade\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				mom and child watching the parade\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				sleeping bear dunesmobile\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				camp kohana\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				GLFD in the parade\n				\n		\n\n\nNote: All those watching and attending the parade are encourage to stay on the sidewalks and out of the street. Please be respectful\, please be safe. No organization is in charge of this parade. It’s simply a bunch of Americans showing their gratitude and patriotism in an old-fashion\, small town way. This parade celebration would not be possible without volunteers and street sweepers (we always could use more!) SUMMARY:Glen Lake Women's Club Art Fair
DESCRIPTION:This year marks the 51st year of the Glen Lake Woman’s Club Art Fair\, held on July 20th\, 2022 at the Glen Arbor Township Hall from 10 am to 4 pm. \nThis annual juried Art Fair features artists carefully selected to represent one-of-a kind art pieces for sale at the Glen Arbor Township Hall. The Art Fair features artisans in many mediums including pottery\, painting\, textiles\, woodworking\, and jewelry. \nAdmission is free. \n\nAll proceeds support the Glen Lake Community School’s student scholarship program. Since 1980\, the Glen Lake Woman’s Club has awarded $286\,310 to 228 students with both 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd year scholarships to Northwestern Michigan College. The scholarships are announced at the Glen Lake High School Honors Night in May. \nThe Glen Lake Woman’s Club\, a 501(c)(3) organization\, was established in 1937 with the goal of fostering social\, civil and education projects.
