DESCRIPTION:Explore and enhance your connection to the natural world through these monthly workshops. Local artist\, educator and environmentalist Penny Krebiehl will lead this field trip\, gathering first here at the library before venturing out to the popular Alligator Hill trail. Penny will guide participants through sketching and journal writing techniques in the field\, before reconvening back at the library for further discussion and sharing. Dress for outdoor temps/weather\, and bring drawing supplies (notebook/journal\, pencils/pens).

DESCRIPTION:Park Partner Preserve Historic Sleeping Bear celebrates the annual Michigan Log Cabin Day this year by  highlighting the Boekeloo Cabin\, one of six log cabins on the mainland in the Park. \nStuart Boekeloo is a descendant who will be on-site to share history and stories of his family’s time at the cabin. \nCheck out Preserve Historic Sleeping Bear’s preservation of the cabin\, having restored the windows\, door\, bridge and property fence\, and replaced and repaired logs. Location: The cabin is set at the end of a two mile two-track in the Platte River area of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. A peaceful location on a cranberry bog with a path from the cabin to Lake Michigan\, it’s a hidden favorite for many.
