Kaelin\, the founder of the Michigan Aurora Chasers and the author of “Below the 45th Parallel: The Beginner’s Guide to Chasing the Aurora in the Great Lakes Region” as she gives you tips\, tools and techniques for spotting this rare natural phenomenon. During the day\, Melissa works with space weather researchers at the University of Michigan to uncover the mysteries of the Aurora\, and at night\, she chases the Northern Lights\, successfully catching vivid eyesight-visible displays. She has helped hundreds\, if not thousands\, of Aurora Chasers to view the Northern Lights for the first time.\nLocal photographers Ethan Honke and Michele Aucello will be on hand to provide tips on photographing the Northern Lights. SUMMARY:Creative Wellness Retreat – Caring for Caregivers
DESCRIPTION:How can creativity help one navigate the experience of caregiving for other humans? The Glen Arbor Arts Center’s HeARTful Care: Nurturing the Caregiver’s Soul Through Art is the second in a series of Creative Wellness retreats focused on increasing wellness through art practice. This retreat occurs on Saturday\, November 11\, 2023\, from 9 am – to 5 pm at Pine Street Studios\, next door to GAAC. The cost is $175\, including all materials\, instruction\, breakfast\, and lunch. Pre-registration is required as space is limited to 12 participants. This workshop is intended for adults ages 26 and older.  \nThis full-day retreat provides a supportive\, creative space for adults to examine and process their caregiving experience for other humans. This retreat is not about caring for a patient or loved one. Instead\, it provides creative coping skills for the caregiver to care for themselves while caring for someone. It gives you communication and self-care tips to focus on your needs while helping your loved one. It includes facilitation by a licensed therapist and three workshops led by professional teaching artists. Workshops include playful\, creative explorations\, learning to create and keep a visual journal\, and vibrational sound immersion. \nHeARTful Care: Nurturing the Caregiver’s Soul Through Art is the second in a series of new retreats GAAC offers. Visitors can donate a wish to help with the GAAC’s year-round programming. \nThe GAAC’s 2023 Small Works Holiday Exhibition is an annual showcase of 2D + 3D work that offers small\, original art at affordable prices\, $150 or less. She is constantly working her magic to ensure that our products and stores are ready to go and looking their best.\nIn August she was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time in her life and has a major journey ahead of her with treatment and travel for this treatment.  Kelly and her husband Nick also have two young girls Mabel & Mylah. Kelly is a ray of sunshine and a rock in our community. Her travels continued along the Seine River and the towns and countryside of Normandy. Equal parts travelogue and personal meditation\, the book explores her ongoing discovery of what it means to be an artist.
