DESCRIPTION:This historic picnic happens annually\, on the 1st Sunday in August\, now in it’s 123rd year!\nThis year\, the Old Settlers Picnic falls on Sunday\, August 2nd\, 2015. All are welcome to attend. \nIt begins with a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. The event includes live music and dancing on the Gazebo\, a car show\, some assorted crafters and demonstrations. At 12:00pm the Masonic Temple serves a picnic lunch. \nThe Old Settlers Picnic Association has a meeting after lunch\, All are welcome to attend and participate! \n\nBackground: It all started when Kasson Freeman came to the area. He had a friend in Glen Arbor\, Mr. Fisher. They had a picnic at this park to celebrate Mr. Fisher’s birthday in 1892. Everyone enjoyed the summer gathering so much that it turned into an annual event that’s been organized each year since! \n

DESCRIPTION:The 6th annual run through the beautiful scenery of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore supports preservation of the Park’s historic resources. We’re offering two runs this year – a challenging 5K trail run/walk on the Bayview Trail\, or the Tiller’s 10K on the Bayview Trail\, back gravel roads and a portion on the Lake Michigan beach! Both offer a unique tour of the Port Oneida Rural Historic District – “one of the most prized historic landscapes in the country!” \nThe looped courses meander through the fields and hills of the pastoral landscape of farmsteads from the late 1800s. Afterwards\, take a swim on the beautiful beaches in the National Lakeshore! Run with your friends\, family\, or come to cheer them on. Professional Chip Timing! \nLocation is the Charles Olsen farmstead at 3164 W. DESCRIPTION:The Friends of the Glen Lake Community Library host their biennial Home Tour on Thursday July 23rd from 10 am to 4 pm.  \nAs one of the Friends’ primary fundraisers\, the event showcases five distinctive and diverse Glen Lake area homes. \nThe range of homes in this year’s event is striking\, yet each offers design savvy\, expressed differently\,  through the appreciation of art and color as well as the love of nature\, most often seen in lovely  landscapes and exquisite gardens.  Whether it is the authentic\, yet updated\, historic 18th century  farmhouse or a newly-built Arts & Crafts home\, a contemporary design element skillfully blended with\nEnglish antiques\, a “knock-out”  view of Alligator Hill or a pastoral view of apple orchards\, an elevator or 12’ Endless Pool\, there is something for everyone in this collection of stunning homes. \nTickets for the Home Tour are $15 each and are available at the Empire Library and the Cottage Book Shop as well as Northwoods Hardware in Glen Arbor.

Jeff Haas comes from a musical family. His father\, pianist Karl Haas\, was his first teacher and was well known throughout Michigan. No carry-in food\, drink or chairs please.

The show opens with a public reception July 17 at 6 p.m. \nLombardo\, an adjunct professor at Columbus College of Art and Design\, first visited Glen Arbor in 2009 and executed the first of his Michigan-in-Summer series.
