SUMMARY:TIN CAN TOURISTS "SHADOW OF THE BEAR RALLY"
DESCRIPTION: Original “Tiny Homes” On Tour in Empire\, Michigan \n AT INDIGO BLUFFS RESORT  – SEPTEMBER 16\, 2017 \n The Tin Can Tourists Open House is open to the public on Saturday September 16th\, from 12 noon to 3pm.  \nThe open house is FREE.  \nIndigo Bluffs Resort is located 3 miles east of Empire on M-72  \n The Empire gathering represents a return to the club’s Northern Michigan roots. Founded in 1919 in Florida\, winter gatherings were held there while summer gatherings were regularly held in Michigan in Traverse City (where the Civic Center is now)\, and occasionally Manistee (Orchard Beach State Park.) \nApproximately 40 vintage trailers and coaches ranging in age from the 1930’s to the 1980’s can be toured during this one-day event. It’s well worth the drive to see these “original tiny homes” and meet the people who have lovingly restored them to their former glory. But be forewarned\, you may leave this event with a firm urge to downsize to your own stylish vintage camper!

SUMMARY:Center Gallery: Rock\, Scissors\, Paper
DESCRIPTION:“Rock\, Scissors\, Paper” brings the work of three visual artist working in narrative forms to Center Gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor\, from Sept. 15 – October 8. A reception to open the exhibition is Friday\, Sept. 15\, 6 – 8 p.m. \nVisual art is a powerful tool for telling stories\, and each of the exhibitors in “Rock\, Scissors\, Paper” offer little tales about the things and events that inspire her artmaking. Julie Kradel\, a ceramic sculptor from Cedar\, creates four-legged beings — fox\, mice\, sheep\, bears — that spring from the fables\, nursery rhymes and music Kradel enjoys. Glen Arbor artist Beth Bricker mines her trove of fairy tales\, rhymes and childhood memories to create intricate paper cuttings — some mounted\, others collaged onto paintings — to tell her personal stories anew. Working in the media of the contemporary quilt and mixed media collage\, Sarah Bearup-Neal\, a Benzie resident\, focuses on themes of tourism\, local agriculture and rural\, northern Michigan life. \nCenter Gallery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information\, call the gallery at 231/334-3179.

SUMMARY:Center Gallery: Raku Demonstration
