With her expertise she’ll show you how to draw a variety of ocean animals.  All materials are provided.  Hope to see ALL of you then!  On the following Thursday\, July 28th at 11 a.m.\, our summer kid’s programming continues with an outdoor concert featuring our favorite musicians Luunappi.  Weather permitting\, we’ll ALL be in our lovely garden area in the back of the library.  So bring a blanket or a chair and join the fun with stories and songs and music.  In case of inclement weather we’ll be concerting in our program room.

DESCRIPTION:This year marks the 51st year of the Glen Lake Woman’s Club Art Fair\, held on July 20th\, 2022 at the Glen Arbor Township Hall from 10 am to 4 pm. \nThis annual juried Art Fair features artists carefully selected to represent one-of-a kind art pieces for sale at the Glen Arbor Township Hall. The Art Fair features artisans in many mediums including pottery\, painting\, textiles\, woodworking\, and jewelry. \nAdmission is free. \n\nAll proceeds support the Glen Lake Community School’s student scholarship program. Since 1980\, the Glen Lake Woman’s Club has awarded $286\,310 to 228 students with both 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd year scholarships to Northwestern Michigan College. The scholarships are announced at the Glen Lake High School Honors Night in May. \nThe Glen Lake Woman’s Club\, a 501(c)(3) organization\, was established in 1937 with the goal of fostering social\, civil and education projects. DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to explore embroidery? If so\, come to the Glen Lake Library on July 12\, 2022 @ 6:30 pm. Grab a friend and come learn a new skill as Dayna Walton of Solstice Handmade guides us through an embroidery lesson featuring a special bird– the Ivory Billed Woodpecker. We will practice several embroidery stitches and then use them to begin stitching a pattern of this now-extinct bird. While we stitch\, we’ll fill you in on thee history of this famed bird. This class is suitable for beginners and experts\, and all supplies are included. The class is open for ages 12 and above\, though younger stitchers may attend with an older companion. The class will be limited to 20 people\, so contact the library in advance to register @ 231.326.5361.

SUMMARY:Artist In Residence Presentation - Amanda Kendrick
DESCRIPTION:Indiana artist Amanda Kendrick will use her Glen Arbor Arts Center residency to switch gears. Kendrick has built a studio practice based on painting. During her June 26 – July 9 residency\, she will work on new sculptural forms that reflect her interest in “domesticity and elevating the mundane.”  \nEach of the GAAC’s artist-residents offer a conversational presentation at the end of their stay. The presentations begin at noon at the GAAC. They are free\, and open to the public. On July 8 Kendrick will discuss her new works that use concrete and embroidery as art-making materials. \nSince the 1990s\, the GAAC has welcomed visiting artists who want to immerse themselves in their work. The GAAC’s AIR program offers up to seven\, creative practitioners a two-week respite from their daily lives in order to focus on a new idea that needs space\, or to develop an on-going project.
