Coupled with her trademark vintage look and style\, Elliott delivers an eclectic mix of original music that blends the present with the past. While her vocal stylings have been compared to that of Natalie Merchant and Norah Jones\, Elliott’s unique voice weaves throughout melodies creating a sound entirely her own.

SUMMARY:Artist In Residence -  Valerie Mann
DESCRIPTION:Fiber artist Valerie Mann will explore and fabricate a new body of work based on grief\, both personal and global\, during her Glen Arbor Arts Center residency June 12 – 25. Mann\, a resident of Saline\, Michigan\, will combine and sew repurposed materials into sculptural pieces. \nEach of the GAAC’s artist-residents offer a conversational presentation at the end of their stay. The presentations begin at noon at the GAAC. They are free\, and open to the public. On June 24 Mann will discuss her multilayered works that explore color\, shape\, negative space and shadows.  \nSince the 1990s\, the GAAC has welcomed visiting artists who want to immerse themselves in their work. The GAAC’s AIR program offers up to seven\, creative practitioners a two-week respite from their daily lives in order to focus on a new idea that needs space\, or to develop an on-going project. Major Patrick Hopple\, a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps\, US Army Reserve\, and a 1999 graduate of Glen Lake Schools\, will be the featured speaker. His presentation is titled Liberty and Service. The flag will be raised by members of the Glen Lake Fire Department. A crowd favorite is the singalong of well-loved and familiar patriotic songs that closes the program. \nThe Flag Raising Ceremony begins at 10 am\, July 4th\, at the Old Settlers Picnic Grounds\, located on the south eastern shore of Glen Lake near the corner of Dunn’s Farm Rd. (CR 675) and Burdickville Rd (CR 616). Please bring your own lawn chairs. Event sponsored by Glen Lake Woman’s Club. \nThe Glen Lake Woman’s Club was established in 1937 with a mission to foster social\, civic and educational projects. SUMMARY:Artist In Residence Presentation - Amanda Kendrick
DESCRIPTION:Indiana artist Amanda Kendrick will use her Glen Arbor Arts Center residency to switch gears. Kendrick has built a studio practice based on painting. During her June 26 – July 9 residency\, she will work on new sculptural forms that reflect her interest in “domesticity and elevating the mundane.”  \nEach of the GAAC’s artist-residents offer a conversational presentation at the end of their stay. The presentations begin at noon at the GAAC. They are free\, and open to the public. On July 8 Kendrick will discuss her new works that use concrete and embroidery as art-making materials. \nSince the 1990s\, the GAAC has welcomed visiting artists who want to immerse themselves in their work. The GAAC’s AIR program offers up to seven\, creative practitioners a two-week respite from their daily lives in order to focus on a new idea that needs space\, or to develop an on-going project. DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to explore embroidery? If so\, come to the Glen Lake Library on July 12\, 2022 @ 6:30 pm. Grab a friend and come learn a new skill as Dayna Walton of Solstice Handmade guides us through an embroidery lesson featuring a special bird– the Ivory Billed Woodpecker. We will practice several embroidery stitches and then use them to begin stitching a pattern of this now-extinct bird. While we stitch\, we’ll fill you in on thee history of this famed bird. This class is suitable for beginners and experts\, and all supplies are included. The class is open for ages 12 and above\, though younger stitchers may attend with an older companion. The class will be limited to 20 people\, so contact the library in advance to register @ 231.326.5361.
