Whether you’re looking for a beautiful homemade purse or jacket; an original painting of a favorite\, local scene; a stunning piece of new jewelry; or a unique pottery garlic keeper; you are sure to find it at one of the well-displayed booths\, both inside and outside the Township Hall. Food is available for purchase.\nAll proceeds from the Art Fair support scholarships for Glen Lake Community School students. That question is central to Leelanau County author Tim Mulherin’s book This Magnetic North: Candid Conversations On A Changing Northern Michigan. Mulherin will discuss why he wrote the book\, and the conclusions he drew at the July 11 Coffee With The Authors interview at the Glen Arbor Arts Center.The program begins at 11 am. \nMulherin\, a seasonal Leelanau County resident\, conducted dozens of interviews in an effort to get some clarity on his question. He spoke with climate refugees\, lifestyle migrants\, people fleeing the COVID pandemic\, tourist industry leaders\, conservationists\, business owners\, public safety officials\, descendants of European settlers\, and descendants of the region’s first and original human inhabitants. All these voices helped Mulherin in his “personal exploration of the relocation phenomenon that’s occurring in northwest lower Michigan …” Published in 2025\, This Magnetic North was named a 2026 Michigan Notable Book by the Library of Michigan. \nCoffee With The Authors is a series of conversational interviews with local\, regional\, and state authors about the art\, craft\, and process of writing\, facilitated by GAAC Gallery Manager Sarah Bearup-Neal. There is no charge. Coffee With The Authors enjoys the support of the Cottage Book Shop and the Glen Lake Community Library.

DESCRIPTION:Sleeping Bear Forever (formerly Preserve Historic Sleeping Bear) is excited to announce the launch of Sleeping Bear Folk & Field School\, a new series of immersive educational experiences designed to help people discover\, preserve\, and engage with the rich heritage and natural landscapes of the Sleeping Bear Dunes region.  \nGather around for an evening of fiber\, conversation\, and discovery. Through hands-on swatching\, knitted samples\, and guided discussion\, we’ll explore the many ways makers evaluate yarn—from durability and warmth to softness\, drape\, sustainability\, and simple joy. Rather than a deep dive into individual breeds\, this workshop offers a broad introduction to the factors that influence our fiber choices\, including fiber content\, yarn construction\, care requirements\, and intended use. Expect a welcoming atmosphere where curiosity is encouraged and every yarn has something to teach.
