Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. During her two-week residency\, Bender — a New Jersey resident — worked with an 8X10 Deardorff view camera photographing notable trees in the Leelanau Peninsula. Bender creates paper negatives\, some of which she will process with older methods using sunlight.

DESCRIPTION:The Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) kicks off its 15th season of artist-in-residence presentations May 12\, 7:30 p.m. at the GAAA\, 6031 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. Painter Robert Ross is the first presenter\, one of four artists who will participate in GAAA’s 2016 Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program. \n  \nDuring this two-week residency\, Ross\, a resident of Altamonte Springs\, Florida\, will create a series of paintings that explore abandoned Port Oneida farmsteads. He’ll focus on the Burfiend and Thoreson farms\, examining how the homes\, barns and shed built by these settlers shaped the environment and continue to shape it. SUMMARY:Mostly Music Series: 70 Years of Jazz – Bebop and Beyond
DESCRIPTION:Back in the 1970’s\, Bob Foskett saw a need for a music history course that dealt specifically with Jazz when he discovered that most music history classes\, if they covered jazz at all\, stopped with Benny Goodman and the music of the 1930’s and ignored the music that became the foundation for what is called Jazz today. “70 years of Jazz in 90 minutes”\, is a highly compressed version of the semester long course that Bob developed for the largest community college in Illinois. With recorded examples he’ll follow the evolution of Jazz\, and also show how Jazz works. Bob Foskett\, programmed jazz radio in Chicago for 30 years and is now a DJ for Friday Morning Jazz at WNMC in Traverse City. Programs will be roughly 60% music\, 40% discussion.

DESCRIPTION:Join us at Beppi’s at The Homestead for live entertainment from renowned Levi Britton. \nLevi Britton is an indie/folk/rock artist who hails from Traverse City\, MI.  Growing up around music sparked his drive to make it his profession. At age 20 Levi moved to Chicago\, playing down in the subways\, Potbelly restaurants\, and any gig he could find.  Eventually Britton co-founded his band\, Down the Line that went on to release 5 albums\, and toured the country for ten years with artists such as The Gin Blossoms\, Pat Benatar\, Peter Frampton\, America\, Keith Anderson\, Lighthouse\, and others. \nIn 2011\, Levi and DTL band mate Dan Myers formed Stolen Silver\, releasing two albums—most recently in June 2014.  Stolen Silver has recently been touring with actor Gary Sinise and The Lieutenant Dan Band\, playing stadiums and military bases in support of U.S. troops and their families. \nIn addition to playing with Stolen Silver\, 2014 launched Levi’s solo career at a whole new level.  After years of fans clamoring for a solo project\, Levi hit the studio to record all new\, original music.  His first solo record\, “Inside” is set to be released in mid-2015. \nBeppi’s serves artisan pizzas and a limited menu from Nonna’s\, craft beer\, wine and liquor.
