The half marathon will take runners around Big Glen Lake in a clockwise loop\, starting and finishing in downtown Glen Arbor. Runners ascend Inspiration Point on the south side of Big Glen Lake where they will experience one of the most spectacular views of Leelanau County. The 5k course is flat and fast\, and will take runners and walkers through tree-lined roads on the edge of downtown Glen Arbor.  \nHonor Bank introduced a ‘Live Well\, Work Well’ initiative company-wide in 2014. The program was created to promote healthy eating\, wellness\, and fitness\,” shares Norm Plumstead\, Head of Retail Banking.  \n“When Endurance Evolution approached us to sponsor the Glen Arbor Solstice event\, it was a natural fit. DESCRIPTION:Come explore Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (National Lakeshore) on snowshoes this winter! Join park rangers for a guided snowshoe hike this holiday season and every Saturday throughout the winter. The first hike of the season will be on Saturday\, December 27\, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. The snowshoe hikes will continue to be offered every Saturday at 1:00 p.m. through March 7\, 2015. Meet at the National Lakeshore’s Philip A. Hart Visitor Center in Empire. If you don’t have your own snowshoes\, a pair will be loaned at no charge. Participants need only purchase the park entrance pass or have an annual pass to join in the fun. \nReservations are required whether you need to borrow snowshoes or have your own.  Ranger-led snowshoe hikes are limited to 30 participants. The Port Oneida Run is a challenging 5K trail run (or just a beautiful walk) on the Bayview Trail offering a unique tour of the Port Oneida Rural Historic District – “one of the most prized historic landscapes in the country”!  The course is a loop which meanders  through the flat fields and yes\, some hills\, of the pastoral landscape of farmsteads from the late 1800s. \nRegistration: Online at www.phsb.org  or at the Olsen Farm 4 Miles North of Glen Arbor at 3164 W. harbor Hwy. (M-22_ \nCost: Pre-registration by 5 pm July 31st is $27       After July 31st $32 \n8:30 am Children start the day off with1/4 mile Schoolhouse Dash from the Olsen barn to the historic one-room schoolhouse on the Bayview trail. \n9:00 5K Begins \nAwards: 3 deep in 9 age categories. \n\nPrizes – must be present to win!
