SUMMARY:Sleepless play audition
DESCRIPTION:Auditions will be held at 7:00 pm at the Glen Lake Church (4902 W. MacFarlane-Glen Arbor) on June 26 th as well as at the Old Town Playhouse at the same time on June 28th. The cast includes two teenagers\, a boy and a girl\, (3) 30ish men and (3) 30ish females. \nThe Glen Arbor Players are excited to announce auditions for the world premiere of a new play\, SLEEPLESS. The play is a stage derivative adaptation of the original story\, “Sleepless in Seattle” which debuted as a hit romantic comedy movie in 1993. The movie won two academy awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Song and starred Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. \nThe original story was written by Jeffrey Arch and further adapted by Nora Ephron and David S. Ward. The movie earned many other awards including BAFTA film awards\, American Comedy Awards\, Golden Globe awards\, etc. The film follows a journalist who\, despite being newly engaged\, becomes enamored with a recently widowed architect when the latter’s young son calls in to a talk radio program requesting a new\npartner for his grieving father. DESCRIPTION:The Stan Brubaker Celebrate America 4th of July Parade celebrates America with a myriad of floats and vintage vehicles as they parade from Glen Haven to Glen Arbor. Parade starts at noon. The 61st parade will take place on July 4th\, 2023.\nAnyone is welcome to participate. No registration required.  \n10:30am John DePuy will be coordinating the assembling of vehicles and the launch from Glen Haven beginning at 10:30am. The lineup is organized by volunteers. If you’re a walker joining the parade\, please enter the parade closer to town\, via Forest Haven Rd. \nPeter Van Nort will be in charge of pedestrian participation at Forest Haven. Please do not enter parade until the last vehicle passes. \n12pm the line up will roar slowly out of Glen Haven to parade into Glen Arbor. \nThe parade marshal for 2023 is Rodney Brubaker. The children and grandchildren of Stan express appreciation to Glen Arbor for honoring America on this special day!  \nNOTE: Please contact the Township office at (231)334-3539 if you can help with the “broom crew.”  More helpers are needed. Extra effort will be made to help parents keep their children safe by sweeping candy that doesn’t reach the curb. Flagging tape linking orange cones will emphasize the boundary for parents and their children. Water balloons and squirt guns are prohibited and we ask you to spread the word to all our spectators. Don and Annette Lewis will be coordinating the “broom crew” along Western Avenue.

Hear from Anishinaabe historian Eric Hemenway on this topic and other conflicts of the time period. \nThe Anishinaabek of the Great Lakes fought in numerous wars and battles to maintain their place and way of life. Some battles were with other tribes while many were with the United States. Odawa and Ojibway warriors from the Upper Great Lakes played no small part in the shaping of their tribal futures\, as well as that of the United States. This talk will look at why the tribes fought and the aftermath of these wars.
