SUMMARY:Cross Country Tournament at Manitou Passage Golf Club
DESCRIPTION:What\, you may ask\, is a Cross Country Golf Tournament? \nA Cross Country Tournament is basically the same as a regular 4 person best ball\, except that we are have taken the liberty of re-designing the holes (not literally).  Instead of playing the holes as they currently are laid out\, you will play them not only in a different order\, but to different locations as well.  For example\, you may be starting out teeing off from the #1 tee box\, but your target green will be #17 instead of #1.  You might then proceed to #8 tee box and play to #7 green.  You get the picture…we will be playing a total of 9 holes. \nKeep one thing in mind\, the number 1 goal of this tournament is to “Have fun!” This is a goofy format and there will be some goofy scores\, but it will also give a chance to say “Thank You” to those who have supported us this season. \nFormat: \n\n4 person best shot\n\nStart Time:\n\n10am shotgun start\n\nFees:\n\n\n$36 per person\, non-members\n$18 per person\, members\n\nIncludes:\n\n\n9 holes of golf\nCart\nLunch\nPrizes!  (Let’s just say that the prizes are not your conventional gift certificates.  And\, remember…this is for fun!)\n\nAdvance registration is required by September 2\, 2016. Call 231.228.6000.

SUMMARY:BioBlitz at Sleeping Bear Dunes
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, September 17\, visitors to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore\n(National Lakeshore) can become citizen scientists for the day by joining the park’s quest to\nshowcase the biodiversity of the National Lakeshore through a BioBlitz. The BioBlitz is a time for\nscientists\, students\, teachers\, families\, and park visitors to team up to identify as many organisms as\npossible. \nInterested visitors should sign up ahead of time to choose a hike with an expert\, allowing them to\nlearn about the intriguing plant and animal species they might find. All hikers will meet at the Dune\nClimb parking lot at their assigned time. \nSign-up details are available at\nhttps://ceruleancenter.org/bioblitz. Visitors may also use the iNaturalist smartphone app to explore\nthe National Lakeshore on their own. \nThe Lakeshore’s event is called “Blitz the Bear\,” and marks the launch of the Great Lakes Bioblitz\,\nan initiative led by the National Lakeshore’s partner\, the Cerulean Center\, to study biodiversity in the\nGreat Lakes region. Space is limited\, so interested parties should register early to secure a spot.\nCitizen scientists and environmental stewards of all ages are needed. \nBlitz the Bear is free with a park pass. Passes may be purchased at the Philip A. Hart Visitor Center\nin Empire\, or at the Dune Climb fee booth. Passes cost $15 per vehicle for seven days\, or $30 for an\nannual pass. \nFor a complete listing of park events\, visit https://www.nps.gov/slbe/planyourvisit/calendar.htm. \nVisitors are also encouraged to share their adventures at FindYourPark.com and on social media\nusing hashtags #FindYourPark and #sleepingbearnps.
