A must see. Vintage cars\, bicycles\, tractors\, hit and miss engines\, and much more fill the grounds around the museum along with old fashion craft and food demonstrations making this a fun filled afternoon for the whole family.\n\n\nFree popcorn served all afternoon. Moomers ice cream is also always a big hit. Sales benefit the museum!!\n\nEnjoy our woodworking shop\, blacksmith shop\, turn of the century saloon\, one room school\, fire house and Billy Beeman Barn filled with many pieces of horse drawn equipment. Historic walking tours of the village will take place during the afternoon. Music of all kinds will fill the air for your enjoyment. A beautiful hand crafted quilt by the “Empire Quilters” will be raffled at 3:00PM. Please bring the whole family and help us celebrate our 49th Anniversary.\n\nFire Department OPEN HOUSE TOO! Admission is free and donations are encouraged.

DESCRIPTION:The Artist Pop-Ups + Demos turn the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s front yard and parking area into open-air exhibition and music venues. Participating studio artists will demonstrate what they do\, talk about their work\, and exhibit on September 11\, 11 am – 3 pm. The Pop-Up exhibitors are: Lauren Everett Finn\, painting; Tracie Herkner\, hand spinner; Colleen Kole\, improve quilt maker; Mark Mehaffey\, watercolor and acrylic painting; Jessica Kovan\, mixed media; Sue Nichols\, needle felting; John Huston\, raku pottery firing. \nIn addition to exhibiting visual artists\, the September Pop-Up features live music from acoustical string players Glenn Wolff and Windy Ridge\, 12:30 – 2 pm. DESCRIPTION:The Glen Arbor Arts Center will be hosting the Traverse City Dance Project [TCDP] and the Traverse City Orchestra string quartet for an evening of orchestral music and dance at its Thoreson Farm campus on August 11\, 7 pm. \nThis free program will feature Vivaldi’s Four Seasons as performed by the Traverse Symphony Orchestra. The performance is choreographed by Brent Whitney and Jennifer McQuiston Lott\, TCDP artistic directors; and guest choreographers: Alyssa Myers\, and Traverse City natives Maddy Falconer and Madison Vomastek.  \nThe community is invited to pack a picnic and BYOB for this collaborative event. Chairs will be provided. \nDoors open at 6 pm. The performance begins at 7 pm followed by an artist Q&A. Thoreson Farm is located at 3694 S. Thoreson Road\, Maple City. Held outdoors at the Glen Arbor Township Park\, located at the corner of  M-22 & State Street with a rain location at the Glen Arbor Town Hall. \nThe event takes place from 12 – 3pm and includes festive activities take for kids of all ages include games\, a pie eating contest\, halloween costume contest\, cake walk\, crafts and of course…pumpkin carving! There will be live music and refreshments/food available for purchase. Pumpkins will be put on display and lit at 6pm\, for all to enjoy. Participants may return Saturday evening or early on Sunday to pickup their pumpkins. Open to the public. This concert is free but a Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore pass is required for entry into the Dune Climb. \nLead Elvis Igor Yuzov grew up in the former Soviet Union\, where folk music was the norm and rock ’n roll was illegal. A rebellious streak\, however\, led him to seek out the forbidden music. In 1995\, Yuzov dreamed that Elvis Presley came to him and told him to start playing rock ’n roll and the Red Elvises were born. Evolving over the years\, Yuzov’s music contains humorous lyrics and grooves that forces his audience to dance. \nManitou Music is a project of the Glen Arbor Arts Center. DESCRIPTION:Friday\, Dec. 13 @ 7:30pm to 9pm\, Manitou Winds will be performing their annual “Winter Songs & Carols” at The Leelanau School\, located at 1 Old Homestead Rd.\, in Glen Arbor\, MI.\nThe event is FREE to attend; Goodwill donations to benefit art/music programs at The Leelanau School and Manitou Winds.\nPerformed in the festively-decorated dining hall\, this special presentation is a chance to hear our one-of-a-kind program performed in an intimate setting welcoming our friends\, neighbors\, and also newcomers.\n\nMore than a concert filled with holiday-themed music\, Winter Songs & Carols is an invitation to celebrate the entire season of winter. Our annual winter presentation brings together the entire ensemble performing on a wide variety of instruments in an eclectic program of traditional carols and original compositions. \nOur 2019 program will feature some of your favorites from past seasons while boasting seven brand new works including familiar holiday tunes and a few surprises you definitely won’t hear anywhere else.
