DESCRIPTION:The music and energy will be so inspiring you’ll have a hard time sitting still. Jazz North is a “little” big band combining the best acoustic and electric jamz for all genres. \nThe horn section gels with the rhythm section to perform everything from funk to swing to rhythm and blues. You’ll also hear some Latin\, bebop\, and rock. This seven piece band also throws in plenty of fresh original arrangements for a mix that’s delightful for listening and dancing! The experienced core musicians have played together for many years\, creating a tight musical camaraderie that demonstrates their love for music and inspiring anyone with a toe to tap. \n\nThe concert begins at 7pm. Transportation via chair lift or six-passenger golf cart begins at 6pm. DESCRIPTION:The local community and visitors are invited to enjoy this celebration of fall\, one of our favorite seasons in Leelanau. \nSaturday\, October 21st\, 2017 | 12 – 4pm\nFun fall family & pet-friendly activities with live music during Pumpkin Fest will be held this year at the Glen Arbor Township Park (located at the corner of  M-22 & State Street). Expect peak colors for fall color tours\, shopping\, dining and a nice weekend to enjoy outdoor recreation. Free to attend but asking a $5 Donation per child to participate in the organize activities. \n \nPumpkin Carving is open to kids & adults of all ages! Pumpkins will be provided to carve your masterpieces. Later\, the Pumpkins will be placed the corner of the park to show off a spectacle of the lit up creations just before dusk. \n \nList of Activities & Times\nThe fun begins at Noon\, with Games\, Pumpkin Carving\, a Craft Table and Face Painting. The Jack Pine Band returns for live music performance all afternoon as well.  \nAt 1:00 p.m. is the Costume Parade\, with Prizes given in a range of ages and categories.   \nFollowing at 1:30 p.m. is a Pet Costume Parade with prizes\, also in a range of categories.   \nThen at 3:00 p.m. there will be the Pie Eating Contest with prizes for kids\, teens\, and adults. This performance is sponsored by the Glen Arbor Art Association’s [GAAA] Manitou Music Festival. \nThis year’s program features songs of Advent\, Winter Solstice\, and Christmas intertwined with readings of poetry and prose. Manitou Winds is comprised of five musicians playing 12 different instruments to create a collage of music textures and styles. Joining the Manitou Winds are guest vocalists Christy Burich and Emily Curtin Culler. Luunappi also means an afternoon of snappy music\, poems and stories for kids and families on Sunday\, March 11\, 2 p.m. at the Glen Arbor Arts Center [GAAC]\, 6031 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. \nLeelanau County musicians and raconteurs Norm Wheeler and Pat Niemisto will fill the GAAC gallery with luunappi-infused songs and tale tales as part of the GAAC’s celebration of Youth Art Month. An exhibition of work by Glen Lake School sixth-grade students and the GAAC’s After School Art kids will be on display March 1 – 23\, 2018. \nPatrick Niemisto and Norm Wheeler create a grab bag of family and children’s entertainment. From Woodie Guthrie and Bill Staines to J. W. DESCRIPTION:Manitou Winds celebrates the coming season with a concert of “Winter Songs & Carols\,” December 7\, 7:30 pm at The Leelanau School\, 1 Old Homestead Road\, Glen Arbor. An evening intertwining chamber music with song and spoken word\, the annual concert is sponsored by the Glen Arbor Arts Center. It’s open to the public without charge. \nThe ancient Celts divided the year into a light half (May-September) and a dark half (November- April)\, seeing the dark half as the beginning. Inspired by this traditional view of the seasons\, Manitou Winds created a program of music exploring winter as a beginning rather than an end. The eclectic program will contain both traditional music and original compositions performed on colorful combinations of instruments\, reflecting a sense of optimism for what lies ahead in the New Year.  \nFounded in 2014\, Manitou Winds is a versatile chamber ensemble comprised of five musicians who perform on many different instruments throughout their programs.
