SUMMARY:Manitou Music Presents the Sound Garden Quintet
DESCRIPTION:The Glen Arbor Arts Center’s inaugural musicians-in-residence\, Interlochen Public Radio’s Sound Garden Quintet\, breaks down barriers to classical music by bringing conversation and a community spirit to music-making. They will present dozens of free performances in Glen Arbor throughout the month of June. The Sound Garden Quintet will be hosted by the GAAC’s community partner\, Pine Street Studios. \nSound Garden Musician-in-Residence schedule of free performances is: \nSunrise and Sunset Sounds: From June 1 – 23\, the Sound Garden Quintet will serenade a different live performance each day at 9 am and 9:30 pm in the Glen Arbor Arts Center lot. \nOpen Rehearsals: Bring a lawn chair\, a book\, and your favorite beverage to the Glen Arbor Arts Center parking lot and enjoy a performance from the deck of Pine Street Studios\, next to the GAAC\, 5710 N. Pine St.\, Glen Arbor. In the case of inclement weather\, the rehearsal will be moved indoors. From 6 – 7:30 pm on May 31\, June 2\, 7\, 9\, and 21 and from 5 – 6:30 pm on June 13. \nThe Sound Garden’s Musical Playground for Kids: The Sound Garden Quintet will be interacting and performing while kids play at the Glen Arbor Township Park Playground\, on the corner of M-22 and State Street in Glen Arbor. Thursday\, June 23\, 5:30-6:45 pm\, Leelanau School Auditorium (sold out) \nSound Garden Shenanigans: The Sound Garden Quintet’s mission is to “plant music in unexpected places.” They intend to bring music into the lives of area residents as they go about daily activities. \nSound Garden Pop-Up: The Sound Garden Quintet will perform at the GAAC’s 6ft Apart Art Artists PopUP + Demo on June 4 from 11 am – 3 pm in the GAAC parking lot. \nManitou Music is a project of the Glen Arbor Arts Center. DESCRIPTION:After a two-year hiatus\, the Leland Wine and Food Festival is back and better than ever! Enjoy tasting local award-winning wines from 13 Leelanau Peninsula wineries & 1 local brewery and delicious specialties from several local food vendors in the heart of Leelanau County. See full list of participants below. \nLeland Wine and Food Festival with a Twist! \nDue to continuing construction in the Leland Harbor and Fishtown\, the 35th Leland Wine and Food Festival will take place at The Leland Lodge\, just up the hill from Main St. 5-Ton Tours will be offering rides to and from Leland to The Lodge throughout the duration of the festival to ensure party-goers can easily access local shops and attractions. Many thanks to both the Leland Lodge and 5-Ton Tours for making this event possible. \nCome and Go Entry \nOur ‘Come & Go’ re-entry wristbands allow you to explore our beaches\, unique shops\, galleries\, and Historic Fishtown\, and then return for more festival fun – as often as you like! Non-stop live music provides a lively backdrop for the festival. Bands will be announced in the spring. \nTickets \nAdults – $30 advance and $40 at the at event. Tickets include a commemorative glass & two wine tasting tokens\nTickets sold the week of the festival are Will Call only\nAdditional tasting tokens are $3 each sold within the festival\nYou Must be 21 years of age to purchase and consume alcohol. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic\, we have instituted protective procedures and policies as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)\, the MDHHS\, and the Leelanau County Health Department. However\, no health and safety policies\, assessments\, precautions\, and/or protocols that will be implemented from time to time by local\, state\, and federal governmental agencies can eliminate the risk of exposure to COVID-19. Because festival events are open for other individuals\, ticket holder hereby knowingly\, voluntarily\, and irrevocably assumes all of the risks\, hazards\, and dangers related to participation at the Leland Wine and Food Festival\, and waives\, releases\, and discharges\, the Leland Chamber of Commerce\, and its volunteers\, vendors\, organizers\, or affiliates\, from any and all claims arising or in relation to the risk of exposure to communicable diseases. \nFestival Rules\n1. The following items are NOT allowed inside the Leland Wine and Food Festival: \nCoolers\nOutside food or beverage\nPets\nStrollers\nTents \n2. You must be 21 to consume alcohol.\n3. We do not recommend bringing children to the festival.\n4. Any non-drinkers or people under the age of 21 will be charged $10 for admission at the gate.\n5. Extra drink tokens will be sold inside the gate. Pricing is as follows: \nOne token – $3\nBag of 4 tokens – $10\nBag of 10 tokens – $25 \n6. All food and beer must be purchased with cash\n7. There will be no entry to the Leland Lodge from the festival area. \nAll proceeds from the festival are used by the Leland Chamber of Commerce for community beautification projects and visitor information tools.
