SUMMARY:Center Gallery Artist Reception: Barbara Cochran and Margie Guyot
DESCRIPTION:Center Gallery hosts an artists’ reception to open its first exhibition of the 2018 season on Friday\, May 25\, 6-8 p.m. at the gallery: 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. A celebration of the region’s rural life — as seen by painters Barbara Cochran and Margie Guyot — launches Center Gallery’s 2018 season. \nCochran lives on a Leelanau County cider apple farm. Her oil paintings reflect the view outside her studio window\, and celebrate the pastoral beauty of her home county. Although the region is best known for its beaches and lakes\, Cochran chooses to zero in on farmstead life — from its fruits and vegetables to its farmyard creatures. \nGuyot is well known for her atmospheric depictions of farms and fields found along the iconic backroads in Antrim Country\, her home base. She also works in oil\, and paints en plein air\, a technique that challenges the painter to record scenes quickly and on the spot. Center Gallery’s opening exhibition continues through June 28. SUMMARY:Coastal: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Crystal River Outfitters has been an iconic Glen Arbor shop since 1994 when it opened as a kayak livery. In the years since\, the district expanded to include M-22 Glen Arbor\, a wine and clothing shop with the infamous M-22 brand\, The Cyclery\, a full-service bike shop\, and the addition of Coastal\, an upscale clothing and accessory store for men\, women and children. \nAfter one season in its previous location\, Coastal will re-open in the heart of the district with plans for year-round operation. “We are excited to make Coastal a year-round shopping destination\,” say owners Katy & Matt Wiesen. “Moving it…allows us to play off the synergy of our other shops\,” explained Wiesen\, “and\, we want people to know that Glen Arobr and the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore are still open in the winter and there is a great reason to come out and visit!” \nVisitors will find high-quality apparel and lifestyle brand including: Patagonia\, Vineyard Vines\, Olukai\, Southern Tide\, Quiksilver\, Herschel\, Hatley\, Toms and more! \nThe store will reopen in late May with a ribbon-cutting planning in conjunction with the Leelanau Peninsula Chamber of Commerce for May 31 st from 4-6:30pm. Coastal will be including a free gift with any purchase during this event and serving M-22 wine on the new outdoor wine bar patio. Other district shops will be open as well.
