There will be live music and refreshments/food available for purchase. Pumpkins will be put on display and lit at 6pm\, for all to enjoy. Participants may return Saturday evening or early on Sunday to pickup their pumpkins. Open to the public. SUMMARY:Mini Masterpieces
DESCRIPTION:The Glen Arbor Arts Center’s annual Mini Masterpieces outdoor exhibit is on display. Over 100 tiny works have been hung on trees along the GAAC’s gravel walkway from Lake Street to the gallery and in the GAAC’s Grove behind the building. This self-guided experience runs through May 26.  \nMini Masterpieces are 3 x 3” canvases illustrated and painted by K-12 children in Leelanau County. The theme this year is “Summer Camp.” Children were invited to paint and draw images of camping scenes and outdoor summer fun. The Mini Masterpieces exhibit will travel to the Indigo Bluffs Campground\, 6760 W. Empire Highway / M-72\, Empire\, on May 28 and display there until being auctioned off mid-summer. Details about the auction will be announced on the GAAC Facebook page in May. Proceeds from the sales will benefit the GAAC.  \nThe GAAC is located at 6031 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. DESCRIPTION:A ceremony to dedicate the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s new Outdoor Gallery exhibition takes place Sunday\, May 30\, 1 pm. The public is welcome to attend this event celebrating the work of Traverse City artist Pam Spicer. \nFive\, vibrant paintings by Pam Spicer have been reproduced on 5-foot-square\, weather-resistant aluminum panels by Image360 of Traverse City. The panels will be installed on the GAAC’s south and west exterior walls. \nJuror Mark Mehaffey selected Spicer’s work from a field of 14 applicants. An Empire artist\, Mark’s work comprised the GAAC’s inaugural Outdoor Gallery exhibition in 2020. Spicer’s work remains in place through April 2022. The panels will be available for purchase in Spring 2022.

DESCRIPTION:Poets and writers are challenged to create a short\, original poem about feeding the mind\, body and soul. Feed Me! is part of the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s exhibition Food Is Art/Art Is Food\, which runs May 28 – August 19 in the GAAC gallery. These works will be performed or read outdoors on Friday\, June 11\, 7 pm\, before a live audience at the GAAC\, 6031 S. Lake St. Glen Arbor. Each writer may read up to five minutes. No pre-registration is required. Poets will be added to the evening’s readers list on a first-come basis. \nFeed Me! is open to all writers and poets\, both children and adults\, of any experience or skill level. Poems may be the work of one author or a team of writers working in any genre: poetry or prose\, free verse\, traditional verse\, haiku\, rap\, beat or other experimental forms. Both previously published and unpublished work is welcome. Feed Me! is a family-friendly event. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the founding of our nation in a patriotic\, joyous ceremony with community members of all ages.\nThe Flag Raising Ceremony begins at 10 am on July 3rd at the Old Settlers Picnic Grounds\, located on the south eastern shore of Glen Lake near the corner of Dunn’s Farm Rd. (CR 675) and Burdickville Rd (CR 616). Please bring your own lawn chairs and maintain social distancing. Event sponsored by Glen Lake Woman’s Club. \nJon Hoover\, the Superintendent of Glen Lake Community Schools will share “A Father’s Love for Country” regarding his father’s service as a Marine in World War II. The flag will be raised by members of the Glen Lake Fire Department. The invocation will be offered by Mike Gafa\, pastor at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church. The National Anthem will be performed on the trumpet by Norm Wheeler. A singalong of well-loved and familiar patriotic\nsongs will be led by Nick Benson. \nThe Glen Lake Woman’s Club was established in 1937 with a mission to foster social\, civic and educational projects. In addition to the Art Fair\, other Club projects include the improvement and beautification of the Chapel and grounds at Old Settlers Park\, organization of the community Flag Raising Ceremony at Old Settlers Park\, and a Christmas party for residents of the Maple Lake Valley Nursing Home. DESCRIPTION:Yes! The 59th Fourth of July Parade\, from Glen Haven to Glen Arbor will happen on Sunday\, July 4th!\n10:30am and after on the 4th\, all will be welcomed to Glen Haven to line up and get ready to go. Vehicle line-up is organized into “groups” in Glen Haven by our volunteers in RED SHIRTS\, and Stan Brubaker in his usual YELLOW. If you’re a walker joining the parade\, enter the parade via Forest Haven. \n12pm the line up will roar slowly out of Glen Haven to make their way into Glen Arbor. \nNote: This we the community relied on our Governor’s decision. On may 20th 2021\, she announced “Michigan will fully lift outdoor capacity limits on June 1 and starting July 1\, end indoor gathering caps that were put in place to curb Covid-19.” We take that to mean\, since we are “outdoors” and “gathering” we can therefore have our parade! We hope you agree. Parade attendees/watchers should stay on the sidewalks and out of the street. Please be respectful\, safe. \n\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				carrying the American flag\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				military vehicles in the parade\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				mom and child watching the parade\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				sleeping bear dunesmobile\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				camp kohana\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				GLFD in the parade\n				\n		\n\nRemember: No organization is in charge of this parade. Not suitable for bikes with very skinny tires. \nDifficulty: This is level with the exception of one steep hill. One of our guides will walk with others walking. Hear the stories of the 2015 storm\, Glen Arbor history\, the influence and life of D.H. Day and his incredible and highly photographed barns; formation of the dunes and alligator hill; the Sleeping Bear Inn\, and Glen Haven’s fruit and maritime activities. There is a good balance of stops along the way with narration while riding. and photo opportunities. \nGreat for a group of friends or multi-generational family experience that will connect you with each other and your heritage!\nBring your own bike\, or rent through our partners The Cyclery in Glen Arbor at a discount.Miles: 8 Cost: $25 per adult/ $15 per child ages 8-17;(no cost for children in child trailers)\nBike Type: Best for road bikes\, mountain bikes\, hybrid\, e-bikes and fat tire. Not suitable for bikes with very skinny tires. \nDifficulty: This is level with the exception of one steep hill. One of our guides will walk with others walking. One very 300 ft. section of dirt road. \nAges: Not suitable for children under 4. Ages 4-7 must be in a trailer/carrier. Ages 8 yrs. old can be on their own bike. \nLocation: Starts at the Alligator Hill Trailhead of the Heritage Trail on Forest Haven road. (You can park up at the Hiking Trailhead or on the side of the road. Meet where the biking trail starts.)If you are renting a bike\, please allow 1/2 hour to get your bike at The Cyclery\, and bike to our meeting location in Glen Arbor. The bike shop will provide instructions. It’s about a 10 minute ride. \nNote: Please make sure your bike is in working order for the ride. Bike helmets are required.

As always Children’s Hour begins at 8 p.m. with the inimitable Fuzz Foster helping you to take your turn reciting a favorite rhyme\, rap\, joke\, story\, skit\, song\, or poem around the big bonfire. Then the adult hour continues after sunset.
