SUMMARY:Walk + Talk The Exhibitions
DESCRIPTION:A guided walk-and-talk through the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s Telling Stories and A Feral Housewife exhibitions takes place February 11 and\, again\, on March 4. Both programs begin at 11 am. Sarah Bearup-Neal\, GAAC gallery manager\, leads a conversational tour of these exhibits about visual storytelling. \nNo one walks into a gallery and fully understands what the exhibiting artists intended to say with their work. During this one-hour program\, Bearup-Neal will talk about the both exhibits’ theme; shed light on artists’ statements; and explore how artists use materials to communicate meaning\, or make an idea more dynamic. Visitors will leave with a fuller understanding\, and appreciation of the exhibit. \nThe Walk And Talk is free. To view both exhibits online\, go to GlenArborArt.org / EXHIBITS. The GAAC is located at 6031 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor.

SUMMARY:Rescuing Food In Northern Michigan
DESCRIPTION:Taylor Moore\, program manager of Food Rescue of Northwest Michigan\, is in conversation about how this Traverse City organization feeds people and supplies food pantries with fresh\, healthy food. This outdoor program is offered as part of the GAAC’s exhibition Food Is Art / Art Is Food\, in the GAAC gallery through August 19. \nSince 2008\, Food Rescue has collected soon-to-expire\, fresh\, healthy food from groceries\, restaurants\, and food processors. With a network of volunteers\, it distributes this reclaimed harvest\, and distributes it to the Northwest Food Coalition’s 70-plus food pantries and community meal sites. Food is delivered the same day it’s picked up\, and provided at no cost to its distribution partners. Food Rescue of Northwest Michigan is a project of Goodwill Northern Michigan. \nFor more information about this free program or the Food Is Art/ Art Is Food exhibition\, call 231/334-6112.
