SUMMARY:Gelli Plate Printmaking (2 day workshop)
DESCRIPTION:Try your hand at gel plate monoprinting to make decorative papers\, postcards\, and booklets. With gel plates\, you can transfer drawings and images from a variety of media\, and make botanical prints\, graphic art\, and collages. We will use the historic and cultural landscapes of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore as our muse for imagery\, prose\, and poetry. \nTHIS IS A TWO DAY WORKSHOP: \nMonday\, July 20th (12:30pm – 3:30pm)  & July 21st (12:30pm-3:30pm) \n  \n

SUMMARY:Intro to Leather
DESCRIPTION:This beginner-friendly class will introduce you to the art of hand-sewing leather and canvas using a sewing awl. You will learn basic leather working skills while making a small pouch-style project and also a small wallet completely by hand. \nDuring the class\, students will learn simple pattern-making\, how to mark and cut leather\, how to set up and thread a sewing awl\, and basic hand-sewing techniques for joining leather pieces together. \nWith the supply fee of $25\, each student will receive a small tool kit to take home\, including: \n\nA sewing awl\nA scratch awl\nCloth measuring tape\nExtra needles\n\nBy the end of the class\, you will have completed two small leather projects and gained the basic skills needed to continue sewing leather\, canvas\, and other heavy materials on your own
