DESCRIPTION:This beginner-friendly class will introduce you to the art of hand-sewing leather and canvas using a sewing awl. You will learn basic leather working skills while making a small pouch-style project and also a small wallet completely by hand.  \nDuring the class\, students will learn simple pattern-making\, how to mark and cut leather\, how to set up and thread a sewing awl\, and basic hand-sewing techniques for joining leather pieces together. \nWith the supply fee of $25\, Each student will receive a small tool kit to take home\, including: \n\nA sewing awl\nA scratch awl\nCloth measuring tape\nExtra needles\n\nBy the end of the class\, you will have completed two small leather projects and gained the basic skills needed to continue sewing leather\, canvas\, and other heavy materials on your own

SUMMARY:Knitting the Lakeshore: Mosaic Knitting Basics
DESCRIPTION:A shawl is what we consider a foundation piece\, both in terms of wardrobe and within your knitting repertoire. We’re introducing a basic framework here—the ubiquitous triangle shape achieved by increasing at the edges—and showing you one way it looks fabulous (with a verrrrrry special handspun) in a simple-to-work slip-stitch pattern that reminds us of beach stones. Not sure about the handspun yarn? You’ll achieve an entirely different look with a combination of handpainted yarn + solid or two solids/tonals for more of a checkerboard look. Never worked two colors before? Don’t fret–this is an easy-to-remember slip-stitch pattern that yields impressive results.  \nBasic knitting experience required.
