SUMMARY:By Hand Project
DESCRIPTION:Human hands with their dexterous\, opposable thumbs have allowed us to innovate\, to use tools\, to become nimble\, skillful\, creative\, and artful makers. The Glen Arbor Arts Center By Hand project is a consideration of the myriad ways in which the human hand is intrinsic to creative work; and a demonstration of what human hands can make. The By Hand project runs March 29 – May 30\, 2024\, and offers a range of programs that explore this theme through the visual\, performing\, architectural\, and literary arts. \nIn a time of machine dominance\, there is case to be made that right now is the perfect moment to celebrate making-by-hand. The By Hand project challenges this techno-centric time with these programs: \n•	By Hand\, the exhibition\, March 29 – May 30\n•	Coffee With the Authors | The Letter League\, April 6\, 1 pm\n•	By Hand: Architecture\, April 13\, 1 pm\n•	By Hand: Making Music\, April 20\, 1 pm\n•	By Hand: Artificial Intelligence In The Arts\, May 4\, 1 pm \nFor more information about all the By Hand programs go to GlenArborArt.org / EXHIBITS. All programs are free. The GAAC is located at 6031 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor.

SUMMARY:Coffee with the Authors: Brittany Cavallaro
DESCRIPTION:Coffee With The Authors is a live\, conversational interview with local and regional authors about the craft and process of writing at the Glen Arbor Arts Center. On May 18 Brittany Cavallaro\, the author of seven Young Adult [YA] novels\, explains this stand-alone genre\, and how she approaches it. Sarah Bearup-Neal\, GAAC gallery manager\, leads the conversation\, which begins at 11 am. \nCavallaro is a creative writing instructor at the Interlochen Arts Academy\, her alma mater [her New York Times bestselling Charlotte Holmes series is set in a boarding school]. YA fiction is geared to readers ages 12 to 18 years\, but it tackles mature themes and subjects the sets it apart from traditional middle school literature. Cavallaro is also the author of three volumes of poetry\, and frequently collaborates with other writers. \nCoffee With The Authors is offered without charge. The program is supported by the Cottage Book Shop and the Glen Lake Community Library. The GAAC is located at 6031 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. For more information go to GlenArborArt.org/EVENTS.
