SUMMARY:Manitou Music Presents the Sound Garden Quintet
DESCRIPTION:The Glen Arbor Arts Center’s inaugural musicians-in-residence\, Interlochen Public Radio’s Sound Garden Quintet\, breaks down barriers to classical music by bringing conversation and a community spirit to music-making. They will present dozens of free performances in Glen Arbor throughout the month of June. The Sound Garden Quintet will be hosted by the GAAC’s community partner\, Pine Street Studios. \nSound Garden Musician-in-Residence schedule of free performances is: \nSunrise and Sunset Sounds: From June 1 – 23\, the Sound Garden Quintet will serenade a different live performance each day at 9 am and 9:30 pm in the Glen Arbor Arts Center lot. \nOpen Rehearsals: Bring a lawn chair\, a book\, and your favorite beverage to the Glen Arbor Arts Center parking lot and enjoy a performance from the deck of Pine Street Studios\, next to the GAAC\, 5710 N. Pine St.\, Glen Arbor. In the case of inclement weather\, the rehearsal will be moved indoors. From 6 – 7:30 pm on May 31\, June 2\, 7\, 9\, and 21 and from 5 – 6:30 pm on June 13. \nThe Sound Garden’s Musical Playground for Kids: The Sound Garden Quintet will be interacting and performing while kids play at the Glen Arbor Township Park Playground\, on the corner of M-22 and State Street in Glen Arbor. Thursday\, June 23\, 5:30-6:45 pm\, Leelanau School Auditorium (sold out) \nSound Garden Shenanigans: The Sound Garden Quintet’s mission is to “plant music in unexpected places.” They intend to bring music into the lives of area residents as they go about daily activities. \nSound Garden Pop-Up: The Sound Garden Quintet will perform at the GAAC’s 6ft Apart Art Artists PopUP + Demo on June 4 from 11 am – 3 pm in the GAAC parking lot. \nManitou Music is a project of the Glen Arbor Arts Center. DESCRIPTION:Glen Lake Library will begin its Summer Reading Program sign up starting Monday\, June 14th.  Kids of all ages are welcome to participate in the reading program and earn prizes.  The first Summer Reading Program will be Thursday\, June 23 @ 11:00 at the library.  Great lakes Surf and Rescue will be presenting a water safety program for kids and adults.
