DESCRIPTION:Empire painter Craig Weisse exhibits Impressionist images of his shoreline community Sept. 16-October 9\, Center Gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. \n  \nWeisse\, a retired physician\, has lived in Empire for 27 years. In that time he has focused his painting on the locality\, both its natural features as well as the historical and neighborhood buildings that give this community its character. He works in gouache and oil\, and strives to convey the “internalized landscape” – an emotional and nostalgic take on a familiar place. \n  \nA reception for the artist opens the exhibit Sept. 16\, 6 -8 p.m. at the gallery. DESCRIPTION:  \nCenter Gallery hosts an exhibition of artist-made holiday ornaments by eight area makers Sept. 16-October 9. A reception opens the exhibition Sept. 16\, 6-8 p.m. at the gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. \n  \nEach ornament is a small art object\, ranging in media from clay to paper to recycled materials construction. Artists represented in the show are: Kim Bazemore\, metal; Sarah Bearup-Neal\, fiber; Beth Bricker\, paper cut-outs; Julie Kradel\, clay; Jenee Rowe\, recycled cloth; Cherrie Stege\, copper; Amy Stevens\, paper; and Phil Wilson\, clay. In addition to ornaments\, Center Gallery will show oil paintings by Craig Weisse.
