SUMMARY:Leelanau Love Affair: New Paintings by Neil Walling
DESCRIPTION:Suttons Bay artist Neil Walling continues his love affair with Leelanau County in a new group of watercolor and oil paintings starting July 29 at Center Gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. \n  \nWalling’s life-long affection for the region has moved him to study many of the familiar Leelanau County scenes in search of something fresh to depict. “There are a great many scenes in the county\, but I always look for something unexpected or overlooked by the casual observer\,” he said. “Fish Town is a good example. It has been painted by many fine artists\, so my goal is to see it from a new perspective.” Walling works paints in one sitting\, en plein air\, which is an immediate\, time-sensitive approach to outdoor painting. \n  \nAs part of his exhibition\, Walling will conduct a painting demonstration on Saturday\, July 30\, 1 p.m. at the gallery. \n  \nThe show runs through Aug. 4.
