SUMMARY:Leelanau Love Affair: New Paintings by Neil Walling
DESCRIPTION:Suttons Bay artist Neil Walling continues his love affair with Leelanau County in a new group of watercolor and oil paintings starting July 29 at Center Gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. \n  \nWalling’s life-long affection for the region has moved him to study many of the familiar Leelanau County scenes in search of something fresh to depict. “There are a great many scenes in the county\, but I always look for something unexpected or overlooked by the casual observer\,” he said. “Fish Town is a good example. It has been painted by many fine artists\, so my goal is to see it from a new perspective.” Walling works paints in one sitting\, en plein air\, which is an immediate\, time-sensitive approach to outdoor painting. \n  \nAs part of his exhibition\, Walling will conduct a painting demonstration on Saturday\, July 30\, 1 p.m. at the gallery. \n  \nThe show runs through Aug. 4. For more information\, please call 231/334-3179. \n

A reception to open this group show is Aug. 5\, 6-8 p.m. \n  \nHome is where the art is\, and Northern Home + Table celebrates artist-made objects for the abode – from woven and sewn textiles to glass lamp finials\, ceramic table settings to framed narrative paper cuttings. SUMMARY:Plein Air Weekend Quick Draw and Quick Sale
DESCRIPTION:ARTISTS PAINT THE CRYSTAL RIVER \nThe theme of this year’s Quick Draw is the Crystal River.  This gem of a waterway gently meanders through Glen Arbor beginning at the intersection/trailhead of CR675 (Crystal View Road)\, the east side of Glen Arbor and along M22 before heading toward Lake Michigan.  Artist paintings must have some part of the river as its theme. They are on their honor to paint only two hours.
