SUMMARY:Shrines + Altars
DESCRIPTION:Shrines + Altars\nExhibition: August 16 – October 24\, 2024 \nThe Glen Arbor Arts Center’s next exhibit\, Shrines + Altars\, is an exploration of what we hold sacred: To whom are we building shrines? At what altars are we worshipping? This exhibit opens August 16 with a 5-8 pm reception. \nIn the most conventional sense\, a shrine is a holy place in which sacred relics are housed. An altar is a table or platform for the presentation of offerings or other ritualized presents. Both offer ways to create space for memory\, reverence\, reflection. Exhibitors have taken these thoughts to heart\, and created unexpected solutions to the creative problem. \nFor more information about the exhibit and its companion programs – artist interviews\, book discussions\, and the ongoing creation of a public shrine in the gallery – go to GlenArborArt.org/EXHIBITS. The GAAC is located at 6031 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor.

SUMMARY:FamGrove
DESCRIPTION:From The Accidentals: \n“Every year we throw a hometown show at Fountain Point Resort and we bring up bands from all over that we’ve played with and loved and want to introduce to our FAM in NoMI. \n\nThis year we moved the FAMgrove Festival to French Valley Vineyard in Cedar. They have a beautiful old barn that has been refurbished and a huge field for a big tent. This years music lineup is bonkers fun. \nWe’ve got our friends from The Rebel Eves coming up from Nashville\, Seattle\, and Kzoo! We just played strings on their new song called “Shake The Ground” and we’re excited for y’all to get to know them. \nNot sure y’all remember when we took Political Lizard on tour for a summer? We’ll Caleb formed a new group called Low Phase and they just blew up Nashville at the show i went to. \nComing up from Grand Rapids – can’t wait to hear them again. \nONE HOT ROBOT is a total dance party. The lead singer\, Mallory Ramage\, is next level good. The songs are all favorites and you will be transported back to the best time of your life or just have the best time of your life listening to these guys. \nA to Z – These Interlochen Arts singer/songwriters have been playing throughout the region for a couple years and they just keep getting better. We add them to our shows anytime they are free – love Zinnia and Audrey. \nLuke Woltanski is also a local favorite\, all around great guy. If Elton John and James Taylor had a kid – it would be Luke. \n\nWe’ve got incredible food trucks coming \n-Rafaels Indigenous Food Truck \n-Taqueria Mosqueda Food Truck \n-The Leelanau Lemonade Stand (Lemonade and Tea) \n\nCool art! \nSilver\, Slag and Stone Jewelry \nHair Feathers \nThis is the event of the season!”
