DESCRIPTION:Glen Arbor Arts Center [GAAC] September 13 – November 7\, 2019. Come celebrate Fiber Without Borders\, a juried exhibition of 2D and 3D work exploring fiber materials in fresh\, original ways. A reception to launch the exhibition is Friday\, September 13\, 6-8 pm at the Glen Arbor Arts Center\, 6031 S. Lake Street\, Glen Arbor. \nA revolution in the use of fiber materials – from wool\, to paper\, to plastic\, to fruit skins — as the basis for art making began in the 1960s and has continued unabated to the present time. Fiber Without Borders exhibits contemporary work that: \n Acknowledges fiber’s functional roots and contexts\, but does not stop there. \n Examines contemporary social issues. \n Finds innovative uses of fiber materials. \n Moves beyond the expected applications and/or re-examines the conventional ways in which we understand fiber to discover new contexts. \nFiber Without Borders continues through November 7.
