DESCRIPTION:Linda Beeman looks “at nature through the eyes of mokuhanga” — an ancient form of Japanese woodblock printing. And what the artists sees will be on display Aug. 17 – 30 at Center Gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. A artist’s reption to open the exhibition is Friday\, Aug. 17\, 6 – 8 pm. \nBeeman keeps mokuhanga alive and well in her studio practice\, and adheres to the traditions that have carried through the centuries and make this an expressive approach to depicting the natural world. “ Each print is the cumulative process of hand carving\, hand painting and hand printing\,” said Beeman\, a resident of Owosso\, Michigan. “They are not copies.” Instead\, each print Beeman makes is pulled by hand without any mechanical help. \nCenter Gallery is open daily 11 am – 5 pm. DESCRIPTION:An annual tradition returns to the Glen Arbor Arts Center. The GAAC’s 2018 Member Show\, a showcase of GAAC members’ talents\, opens August 17 with an artists’ reception\, 6 – 8 pm at the GAAC\, 6031 S. Lake Street\, Glen Arbor. \nThe GAAC Members’ Show will display up to 50 works by as many member-artists. It is open to both 2D and 3D work. The exhibition runs through August 31.
