SUMMARY:Magic Thursday Artists Summer 2017 Exhibition and Sale
DESCRIPTION:The City Opera House is proud to again present the Magic Thursday Artists for a two-month art exhibition and sale July 1\, 2017 through August 31\, 2017. The exhibition features original fine art paintings in oil\, watercolor\, pastel and acrylic. A portion of all sales benefits the City Opera House.  \nThe opening reception\, with refreshments\, will be held on July 6\, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the City Opera House\, 106 East Front Street\, Traverse City. \nFeatured artists are: Sue Bowerman\, Pat Dixon\, Nancy Donley\, Nan Frankland\, Linda Goodpaster\, Veronique Jonas\, Ruth Kitchen\, Dorothy Mudget\, Sherry McNamara\, Marilyn Rebant\, and Laura Swire. \nThis group of accomplished local artists has been painting together for many years\, both outside (plein air) and in the studio space on Thursdays. You may have seen them around the area at various beautiful locations. Their love and joy in the creative process\, inspired by nature\, is reflected in their fine work. \nThe exhibition is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during evening events.  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Volunteer Preservation Project
DESCRIPTION:Our 9th trip to North Manitou to work on preservation projects on Cottage Row\, a series of resort cottages sitting along the bluff\, from the 1800s. Come for a minimum of 3 nights or more. opportunities for hikes and beautiful sunsets! Fills up quickly and preference is given to previous volunteers so sign up soon. Ferry and housing on the island provided.

SUMMARY:Center Gallery: Joan Richmond Channels Van Gogh
DESCRIPTION:Traverse City painter Joan Richmond returns to Center Gallery with a new body of work inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s directive to listen “to the still voice of nature.” This show of gouache paintings opens Friday\, Aug. 18 with an artist’s reception\, 6 p.m. Center Gallery is located at 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. \nRichmond’s new work is part of an series of paintings that continue her examination of the natural world. Through on-site sketches and drawings\, Richmond investigates the regional landscape’s shapes\, geometries and compositions created by lake\, sky and land. \nThe exhibition of Joan Richmond’s painting is on display until Aug. 31.
