SUMMARY:Magic Thursday Artists Summer 2017 Exhibition and Sale
DESCRIPTION:The City Opera House is proud to again present the Magic Thursday Artists for a two-month art exhibition and sale July 1\, 2017 through August 31\, 2017. The exhibition features original fine art paintings in oil\, watercolor\, pastel and acrylic. A portion of all sales benefits the City Opera House.  \nThe opening reception\, with refreshments\, will be held on July 6\, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the City Opera House\, 106 East Front Street\, Traverse City. \nFeatured artists are: Sue Bowerman\, Pat Dixon\, Nancy Donley\, Nan Frankland\, Linda Goodpaster\, Veronique Jonas\, Ruth Kitchen\, Dorothy Mudget\, Sherry McNamara\, Marilyn Rebant\, and Laura Swire. \nThis group of accomplished local artists has been painting together for many years\, both outside (plein air) and in the studio space on Thursdays. You may have seen them around the area at various beautiful locations. Their love and joy in the creative process\, inspired by nature\, is reflected in their fine work. \nThe exhibition is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during evening events.  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:The 9th annual Plein Air Weekend\, an alfresco paint-a-thon\, takes place throughout Glen Arbor on August 2-5\, 2017\, and brings back the Thursday Sundowner event\, Friday’s Quick Draw\, and Saturday’s Paint Out. \nA project of the Glen Arbor Art Association\, the Plein Air Weekend gives artists a chance to “capture the moment\,” working quickly to complete a painting\, in three painting events. DESCRIPTION:Center Gallery hosts the Home + Table Show Aug. 4-10 at the gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. A reception to open this group show is Aug. 4\, 6-8 p.m. \nHome is where the art is\, and Home + Table celebrates artist-made objects for the abode – from artisan cutting board\, hand built ceramic tableware\, hand-pulled woodblock and fish prints\, to forged barbecue and picnic implements\, and paper ornaments. The exhibition features work by studio artists represented by Lake Street Studios\, and invited friends. A list of exhibitors is at www.lakestreetstudiosglenarbor.com. \nAs part of the show\, exhibiting potter John Huston will conduct a raku firing on Sunday\, Aug. 6\, 1 p.m. on the gallery’s side yard. Raku is an ancient Japanese method of firing clay objects using natural materials — paper\, dried vegetation – to fuel the fire. DESCRIPTION:Participating Paint Out artists return their completed works ready-for-display to the Glen Arbor Town Hall on Saturday\, August 5. A public reception for this judged exhibit and “wet painting” sale is 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Glen Arbor Township Hall\, 6394 W. Western Avenue. Tickets are $10 if purchased by August 4\, or $15 per person at the door. Admission includes a glass of wine\, appetizers\, and desserts. The sale begins at 5:45 p.m. This event is part of the Glen Arbor Art Association’s August 2-5 Plein Air Weekend.
