DESCRIPTION:The City Opera House is proud to again present the Magic Thursday Artists for a three-month art exhibition and sale July 1\, 2016 through September 30\, 2016 – Monday thru Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The exhibition features original fine art paintings in oil\, watercolor\, pastel and acrylic. A portion of all sales benefits the City Opera House. Several Leelanau County artists will be featured.\n \nThe opening reception\, with refreshments\, will be held on July 6\, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the City Opera House\, 106 East Front Street\, Traverse City. \nAdmission is Free \nJuly 1\, 2016 through September 30\, 2016

SUMMARY:Streets\, Beaches\, Cafes: Jazz Painting by Lisa Flahive
DESCRIPTION:Traverse City artist Lisa Flahive paints the immediacy of local streets\, beaches\, cafes and jazz clubs. Her view of these diverse worlds will be on display at Center Gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor\, Sept. 2-15. A reception opens the exhibition on Sept. 2\, 6-8 p.m. \nWorking in a range of water-based paints\, Flahive immerses herself in the location she’s painting. Working quickly\, she captures a place’s energy\, the people moving through it\, the music coming out of it. She is artist-in-residence for Chateau Chantel Winery in Traverse City\, and paints live on the bandstand each week. Flahive also paints and teaches sketching in Chicago. \nAs part of her exhibition\, Flahive will conduct a painting demonstration at Center Gallery on Saturday\, Sept. 10\, 1 p.m. The event is open to the public. SUMMARY:Cross Country Tournament at Manitou Passage Golf Club
DESCRIPTION:What\, you may ask\, is a Cross Country Golf Tournament? \nA Cross Country Tournament is basically the same as a regular 4 person best ball\, except that we are have taken the liberty of re-designing the holes (not literally).  Instead of playing the holes as they currently are laid out\, you will play them not only in a different order\, but to different locations as well.  For example\, you may be starting out teeing off from the #1 tee box\, but your target green will be #17 instead of #1.  You might then proceed to #8 tee box and play to #7 green.  You get the picture…we will be playing a total of 9 holes. \nKeep one thing in mind\, the number 1 goal of this tournament is to “Have fun!” This is a goofy format and there will be some goofy scores\, but it will also give a chance to say “Thank You” to those who have supported us this season. \nFormat: \n\n4 person best shot\n\nStart Time:\n\n10am shotgun start\n\nFees:\n\n\n$36 per person\, non-members\n$18 per person\, members\n\nIncludes:\n\n\n9 holes of golf\nCart\nLunch\nPrizes!  (Let’s just say that the prizes are not your conventional gift certificates.  And\, remember…this is for fun!)\n\nAdvance registration is required by September 2\, 2016.
