DESCRIPTION:Grand Ledge artist Michael Lowery makes a “Return to Leelanau”with a new body of watercolor painting July 1 at Center Gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. An artist’s reception is 6-8 p.m. Lowery’s work is based on Leelanau County icons: weathered barns\, laundry flapping on the farmhouse clothesline\, ravens at rest on the roof. He paints in a limited palette and conveys through shadow and light a sense of nostalgia and melancholy for another imagined time in the county. The show runs through July 7.
