SUMMARY:Center Gallery: Color Stories
DESCRIPTION:Center Gallery opens its 2016 season May 27 with a month-long exhibition of hand-formed porcelain clay tableware by Darcy Bowden and textile constructions by Sarah Bearup-Neal. An artists’ reception is May 27\, 6-8 p.m. at the gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. \n  \nBowden’s plates\, bowls and other table objects make the service of food an artful act. They’re simple\, modern and embellished with familiar shapes in happy\, lively colors. Bowden hand forms her objects using an anvil and paddle. A resident of Ypsilanti\, Bowden taught art for 30 years\, retiring from the Ann Arbor Public Schools in 2008. \n  \nBearup-Neal’s banners and small fabric constructions strike a modern temperament. The Empire artist’s work references many familiar quiltmaking themes and techniques\, then translates these time-honored characteristics into contemporary compositions that showcase stitchery\, mark-making\, hand-painted and hand-printed materials\, graphic line and shape\, storytelling and strong color play. \n  \nThis exhibition runs through June 30. Thanks!\nPlease join us for a village walkabout around Glen Arbor on June 14th! This is an opportunity to allow members/business owners to show and tell their store/products/services with the intention to educate\, having things to share in order to promote each other throughout the season. \nSchedule\n4:00pm | Walk About – Kick off at Wildflowers\, promptly at 4pm with a “toast to the season\,”  \nNext we’ll head over to Synchronicity Gallery – Celebrating 20th Anniversary of the business \nThen\, to see what businesses have moved\, new\, etc. we’ll walk to more stops\, that may include : Serbin Real Estate\, Momentum\, Northwoods Home & Gift and Century 21/Northland Vacation Rentals \nBoard Meeting | We’ll complete the walkabout with a Chamber Board Meeting around 5:30 or at the completion of the Walk About.
